This chapter was inspired by R.L. Stine's Goosebumps book, Don't Go To Sleep. I was scarred for life by a Goosebumps movie. So, enjoy!
Kathy's POV
I nodded at Iris' words and hit the door. The door flew open and Iris let out a bloodcurdling wail. With a sinking gut, I shut the door. Tears slipped from my eyes as screams and a horrible scrabbling sound came from the other side of the door. A small puddle of murky blood bubbled from under the door.
"I'm so sorry, Iris," I whispered, stroking the door. Another door opened and closed. John burst in covered in a black substance. His eyes were wide open and he was shaking like crazy.
"Kathy?" he whispered.
"It's me." I responded. There was a queen bed in the middle of the room. It had a thin, red sheet on it and only one beaten up pillow. Upon looking at the bed I realized my exaughstion.
"What happened to you?" John asked.
"There was a... thing... and it attacked us. Iris held the creature up but she... she didn't," I began to get a huge lump in my throat as more tears threatened to jump out of my eyes.
"Oh," John said quietly.
"What about you?"
"It was raining blood, hot, sticky blood. Then I heard this horrid screaming. It was right behind me. I ran with my hands outward and found the door. But the screamer pullled me back and started choking me. I finally got away and out the door."
"Go ahead and get some sleep. I'll take watch." I guestured towards the bed and John nodded.
"Thanks." I sat at the end of the bed for a few hours before I heard a low grumbling.
"I smell blood. Meat. I can smell you. I can smell your blood," the grumbling got louder and louder and louder. I whipped around to face John, and saw Iris, her body stitched and sewn, blood seeping out of her stiches. Her eyes were closed but her hands were hovering above John's head.
"John !" I screamed, pulling him up by his shirt. Iris' eyes popped wide open.
"I see you, my blood and meat."
