Y/n's POV

I bolt upright, looking around. Rex is on his feet, growling. He hops off the bed and walks out of the room. I slip out of my covers and follow him, grabbing my baseball bat as I pass it. I follow Rex to the bathroom, the door shut. I push the door open, holding the baseball bat in front of me. I spot some bottles that had been knocked over and sigh, letting the bat drop to my side.

"All this fuss over some bottles." I mutter, stooping to pick the bottles up. Rex was sniffing around the bathtub, nuzzling the curtain. I miss the gasp that sounds as Rex peeks his head around the curtain and the dog barks in alarm and surprise. I jump from the sudden outburst, hitting my head on the corner of the sink.

"OW!" I glare at Rex. "Don't scare me like that!" I scold. Rex whimpers and scratches at the toilet base, ignoring me.

"Out. Go to the bed." I say, dragging Rex by his collar and pushing him out of the bathroom. Rex tries to push past me back into the bathroom, but I stop him. "Bed. Now." Rex growls softly, but obeys. I continue picking up the bottles when something green catches my eye. I look to my right to see a little green creature trying to climb into the bathtub. A hand reaches out and grabs the creature before disappearing.

'That looked like a Bowtruckle. Could it be...' I slowly stand, shutting the door to make it sound like I left. Almost immediately, a male voice pierces the air.

"Are you alright? I'm sorry about that. Don't know what happened." The voice says softly. I reach forward and yank back the bathtub curtain. There was a man in my bathtub. His red hair falls around his soft blue eyes, which were widened. Wait a minute. I know those eyes.

"Who are you and what are you doing in my apartment?" I demand, not wanting to show fear. The man slowly stands, tucking something into his pocket.

"I'm so sorry for the inconvenience. This will only take a moment." I duck as he flicks his wand at me, probably to obliviate me. I grab his hand and wrench the wand out of his grasp.

"Oh no, you didn't." I say, holding the wand above my head. The man looks at me in shock.

"How did..."

"I know exactly what you were trying to do. You were trying to obliviate me, weren't you?" I demand. The man open and closes his mouth, looking like a fish. Something tugs at my legs and I look down. A little black-furred creature was pulling at my leg, looking up at me expectantly with one hand reached to me. I slowly pick up the creature.

"Hi there." I say, smiling. The creature reaches to my ear and I understand what it wanted. "No, no earrings for you. Take your Niffler back." I hold the Niffler out to the man, who takes him.

"How do you know it's a Niffler?" He asks.

"Because it looks just like one and was trying to take my earring studs, which are shiny." I say without hesitation. "Name's Y/n L/n." I hold out my hand.

"Newt Scamander." The man replies, shaking my hand. I smile.

'Yes! I knew it!' I squeal in my mind. My heart felt like it was going 20 miles a minute. Then my rational side kicked in.

'But what if he isn't?'

"Care to tell me how you fell into my apartment?" I ask.

"Apartment?" Newt blinks at me, confused.

"Oh sorry." I apologize, remembering he was British. "My flat."

"Spell mishap." He simply states. I smile, slightly geeking out.

"Until you can figure it out, you probably shouldn't go anywhere. You're in 2019 now."

"2019? But, that's impossible! It's 1927!" He opens his case and sticks his hand in. "I swear, I put it somewhere in here." Newt sticks his head in, almost disappearing into the case. "Ah ha! Here it is!" I hear his muffled exclamation and he appears, a brand new newspaper in hand. He hands it to me, pointing at the top. Sure enough, it said 1927.

"Come with me." I say, pulling Newt after me. I open my window and step aside.

"Where are we?" Newt asks after taking a peek.

"That city is New York." Newt looks up at me in shock.

"Welcome to New York, 2019."
