Demetria tried not to panic as the man shoved her through the door to the bell tower. She couldn't afford to with the knife at her throat and one at Eustace's. The air within the tower was alive and vibrating with the clashing of swords and yells. It had been a trap. Oh Aslan send help.
"Now unless you want to this pretty young specimen's throat cut," The man's voice was right in her ear, drawing all eyes to them. "I'd advise you to drop your weapons." Edmund was glaring as he dropped his sword with a clatter onto the stone floor.
"Demetria-" Caspian started but she cut him off, speaking carefully with the knife at her throat.
"Don't worry about me Caspian." She requested softly. There was more important people to worry about than her. People that was currently being put in irons despite their struggles. The man shoved her forward, releasing her as he did so. She stumbled and fell, stone floor scraping at her hands. Why did he have to do that? It seemed as if they'd already won.
"Demi..." Edmund said it gently and she looked up to see his gaze not on her face but on her legs. What was incredibly close to dread filled her as she glanced down to see that her skirt had slipped up when she'd fallen, leaving her brace on display for all to see. She scrambled to yank it down, looking back to Edmund. His eyes didn't leave hers until the man spoke again.
"Take these three to the platform." At his words, another man hauled her to her feet. "Lock the others up."
"Release us!" Caspian demanded with passion unfazed by what he already knew, the struggles resuming. She twisted as much as she could, fighting in the fear that wound itself tightly around her heart. A gasp escaped her lips as one of their captives punched Edmund across the face.
"You're going to pay for that." He said as he staggered, slightly dazed.
"Actually somebody else is going to pay." It was the first man, the ring leader. Demetria looked at him for the first time, at the rich looking clothes, and the greed in his eyes, making the next words he said ring clear and terrifying.
"For all of you." Slave traders. They were slave traders and that meant that her and her friends were their newest auction pieces.
"Aslan, help us." She whispered, wide eyed and terrified.
