Claire's P.O.V.
The next two months of school passed by without a hitch. Every day went at its usual slow pace. It's kind of funny really, it's only a few months into school and already I have senioritis.
Yuki, Senri, and Kumura are still my only friends but they are real. They actually care about how I feel. Even Yuna and Kaname have been more like parents to me than my own.
My parents are a completely different story though. They are rarely ever home anymore. Because of their absence, I have been frequently staying over at Yuki's house, which also doubles over as Kumura's and Senri's house.
Kumura, for some reason, has been really protective of me. We have gym together and he saw the bruise on my arm that my dad gave me. I could tell, when he asked me about it, that he was trying to keep his temper in check.
* * * Flashback * * *
I was walking out of the girls locker room wearing the gym uniform, short shorts and a tank top, when Kumura came over to me. He looked happy until he saw my arm.
"Who grabbed you?" he asked. His voice sounded strained, like he was trying to keep his cool.
I looked down at my hands like they were the most interesting thing in the world. Kumura grabbed my chin and gently lifted it so that I was looking in his eyes.
"Did your dad grab your arm?" he asked in a soft voice. I was about to shake my head no when he said, "Don't lie to me. Did he give you that bruise?"
I sighed and nodded my head. I couldn't lie to him. Something in me trusted him and I just couldn't lie to him.
"If he ever touches you again, I want you to tell me. Try to stay away from him as much as possible. Has he ever hurt you before?" he asked in the same soft voice as before.
I shook my head no and he sighed. He was about to say something else when the teacher blew his whistle.

Strangely enough, there have been no ghosts constantly bothering me and there hasn't been a demon sighting since the first day of school. There are usually a few ghosts hanging around but since the little girl on the swings, I haven't seen any. The only problems that I've been having are with Britney and her gang of sluts.
Speak of the devil and she shall appear, "Hey, bitch, are you going as yourself for Halloween?" Britney asked when I passed her in the hallway.
I kept my head up and continued walking, silently praying that she wouldn't bother me. Apparently my prayer fell on deaf ears because I was grabbed by the hood of my sweater and shoved against the lockers.
"When I talk to you, you respond. Got it, freak?!" she snarled at me.
I remained quiet and glared at her. I was getting tired of the same old shit every day. Seriously, didn't they have anything better to do.
I felt a sharp sting on my left cheek, "You think that because Kumura talks to you that you're so much better than everyone, don't you? Well I've got news for you, you are nothing. You're just some mute freak that he talks to out of pity."
She was about to slap me again when someone caught her arm, "I suggest you leave her alone. Kumura doesn't like it when people mess with his friends. Especially little sluts like you. If I see you bothering her again, you'll regret it." It turns out my savior was Yuki.
Britney was about an inch shorter than me, standing at five seven and Yuki was only five two. I have never seen someone of Yuki's size be strong enough to stop Britney. Seriously, that chick is strong.
"Well if it isn't Senri's little whore. Watch your back because he won't always be around to protect you. In fact, you won't have him for much longer. I have a friend who's interested in him," Britney cackled before walking off with her minions.
"You okay?" Yuki asked me.
I nodded my head and gave her a small smile.
"He doesn't, you know? He likes you, it's not pity. Pity is something you give to something Or someone pathetic and you, Claire, are far from pathetic." Yuki grabbed my books from the floor and handed them to me, "Come on, we'll be late if we don't hurry."
We walked down the busy hallway towards our classroom. As soon as we got to our fourth hour, Physics, the bell rang. The first thing I noticed was Britney hanging on Kumura. The second thing I saw was Tiffany, Britney's best friend and second biggest slut at school, flirting with Senri.
I glanced over at Yuki to see how she was reacting. Surprisingly, instead of the defeated look that most girls had when Tiffany took an interest in their boyfriends, Yuki had a determined look in her eye.
She looked at me and winked, "Follow my lead," she whispered.
She walked over to Senri and sat in his lap and planted a kiss on his lips. The look of relief on his face was evident. Yuki looked at me and mouthed, "Do it."
I took a deep breath before walking up to Kumura and straddling him. He wrapped his arms around my waist and smirked at me, "Where have you been?" he asked me quietly before pecking my lips.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?" Britney practically screeched.
"Would you shut up, I don't know how many times I've told you already, I'm not interested. I'm with Claire, so buzz off," Kumura said, flicking his wrist in a dismissive gesture that made Britney turn red with rage and storm off.
Tiffany was about to follow her when Yuki spoke. "Oh, and Tiff, if you ever make a move on Senri again, you'll regret it," she said with a sweet smile.
