Kumura's P.O.V.
"How long was I out?" I asked Senri.
"About ten days," Yuki spoke in Senri's place.
"This is probably the least of my worries, but, what about school?" I winced when I saw the look on Yuki's face.
"Don't worry about it. Claire got all your homework and I did it along with mine. She turned it in for you the next day. We told the school that you were out with a bad case of the flu," Senri said. It made sense that Senri did my homework; we had the exact same handwriting. I could sign Senri's name and he could sign mine and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
"Where'd Claire go?" I asked. I hadn't seen her since my demon took control.
"She had to go to the store to pick some things up. She should be back within twenty minutes. How are you feeling now? What happened to make you go into that coma-like-sleep?" Yuki asked, planting herself in Senri's lap.
"Well, I've felt better but I'm fine, I guess. And as to your other question, I was attacked by Billy, the demon that made Claire stop talking."
In the time it took Claire to return from the store, I had retold Senri and Yuki everything that had happened. I was just getting to the part where Claire had grown wings when the door opened. I thought it was Claire so when I looked up and saw my grandmother, you could say I was beyond surprised.
"Gran?" I was dumbstruck.
"Close your mouth, you'll catch a fly if you leave it open," was her sassy reply.
"What are you doing here?" Sending asked.
"I ran into Claire at the supermarket. Does anyone else sense that she and her demonic power is stronger than before?" she asked.
"I already told you, ny demon woke up from her dormant state. And another thing, keep in mind that if you threaten to take Kumura away from me again, my demon won't hesitate to make an appearance. Do you understand?" she asked Gran in a low voice.
"Gran...What did you do?" Senri asked.
"Your father called me today and told me what happened to Kumura. When I ran into Claire, I told her to leave you guys out of her family's drama or I would take Kumura, you, and Yuki and leave, making sure she never saw any of you again."
"Gran, are you stupid?" Senri shouted, "If you separate them, they'll both die. They'll die quicker than usual because they haven't mated yet. Kumura's already weak from being attacked by that demon. You're not threatening Claire out of love for us, you're doing it because you don't like Claire." By the time Senri was finished, he was screaming.
"What's going on in here?" Gosuto demanded, opening the door.
"Gosuto?" Gran paled as she spoke her name.
"Kagehoshi, it's been a long time. I see you've met my daughter, Claire." Gosuto's voice as she spoke remained even and calm.
"I wish it were longer," Gran muttered.
"Okay, so you two know each other, great. You two don't like each other, swell. Could everyone please leave so that I can talk to Kumura and my mom?" Claire asked. She was rubbing the bridge of her nose with her thumb and index finger, something she did when she was stressed.
Yuki pulled Claire in for a hug, "Call us if you need anything." She looped her arm with Senri's and walked out, leaving Gran to follow behind them.
Gosuto closed the door and leaned her back against it, "What do you want to talk about?" she asked.
Claire sat on the edge of the bed and leaned back on the headboard. I wrapped my arm around her small shoulders and kissed the top of her head. She relaxed and rested her head on my shoulder.
"If Kaname is the oldest vampire, how is his mother a vampire?" Claire asked.
"Kaname's father was a vampire, his mother was not. When Kaname turned twenty, his father turned him. Kagehoshi was furious, she wanted her son to be human. When Kaname was twenty-five, his father attacked Kagehoshi, almost killed her.
"In order to protect his mother, Kaname killed his father. He then proceeded to turn his mother so that she would live and not die." I didn't want to believe that my father had killed his own father but it made sense.
"How could he attack his wife like that, weren't they mates?" Claire asked, confusion written on her face.
"They weren't mates. He never found his mate, neither has Kagehoshi."
We sat in silence for a few minutes before a thought popped in my head, "Why does Claire have two different wings?"
"I was wondering when you would ask that," she said with a sigh, "Claire is half angel and half devil. The devil comes from her father's side. The angel part comes from me. I am an angel fallen from grace. I came to earth as a vampire, not angel, not entirely demon, and not entirely human. You are more powerful than you believe." Gosuto looked at her daughter with so much pride and adoration that it made my heart swell.
"Gosuto...what became of Rebecca after she left?" I asked.
"Lucifer tracked her down with the help of his brothers, Gabriel and Michael. They are currently talking with the creator to put her on trial. God won't tolerate another uprising. Not to mention, you are the niece of the Arch Angel.
"You will be protected from now on. You don't need to worry about anything else anymore. You just need to focus on your mate and on learning to control your powers and your demon." Claire released a low growl when she mentioned the demon part, I'm guessing that was her demon.
"Is it possible to be at the trial?" Claire asked.
"I'll see what your father can do."
