Love, if you're there, come and rescue me

The First Day

I am sure that everyone can relate to being the odd one out, when you aren't lab partners with your best friend or you don't get on the same team as them in gym class, well today I faced that, against atleast a 1000 people.

I am Lindsay Sands, my mom passed away from cancer a few months ago, so now it's just me and my dad. We just had to move for his work and I started my first day of school today at Ridgefield Academy.
My dad pulled up in front of the school with all the Camrys and Cadillacs, in his pickup. I turned to my dad and said, " I wish mom could see us now, we're doing so good"
"I know she would want to", he answered.
I gave him a quick hug and jumped out of the car. I had no idea where I was going so, I followed the crowd. As I entered the building, I was blown away. Thousands of kids hurried past me and even when I asked where the deans office was, they would turn their heads down even farther and scurry away. I used the map I had printed out the night before and finally found the two brass doors leading into the main office. I timidly knocked and was greeted by a preppy girl wearing a long lace dress and some gladiator sandals.
" Hi. I'm June, you must be Lindsay the new girl" she asked me.
"Um, yah, hi, nice to meet you." I replied.
"Well great, I am going to be showing you around and help you with anything you need" she quickly replied.
She ushered me into the hallway and started explaining the cafeteria lines. I dozed off and thought about all my friends and my boyfriend I had left behind. We decided to break it off because he wasn't really into the whole long distance kind of thing, and I would've try to make it work, but I am sure he's already moved on. I was brought back by June reassuring me...
"I know this is a lot but, I guarantee you'll love it here at Ridgefield" She assured me.
I hope so, I thought to myself.
