"Merci beaucoup." The blonde vampire flashed her sweet smile to the young cashier in the bakeshop. It seemed like everywhere she goes, heads turn. It wasn't bothering Caroline at all, in fact she liked it. But sometimes she wishes that one of those heads that turned is the person she was waiting for. She wanted to hear her name from a certain person, preferably Klaus. She smiled when the Original Hybrid came to mind.
- I wonder where you are now. You're always watching me... sending a couple of hybrids to live next door. That is so 'Original'. - She thought to herself. Caroline always took the camera that Klaus gave to her and before she goes to bed, she'd write in the thick journal that he to her. She'd print pictures and send them to her mother back in Mystic Falls. She'd insert pictures in her journal every time. She'd get phone calls from Stefan and sometimes Rebekah would chat with her. Of course, the blonde Original would ask if she'd seen her brother but to her dismay, she hasn't.
Her trail of thoughts was broken when she heard her phone ring inside her pocket. When she checked who it was, the number was unregistered. "Hello? Who's this?" she asked, she desperately waited for an answer from the caller.
She waited for a few seconds then said, "Klaus... is that you?" her eyes softened as she heard the steady breathing of the man on the other side of the line. "Don't hang up... please?" she pleaded then walked towards a bench and sat as she breathed in. "It's okay if you don't want to talk. Just listen, okay?" she started. Caroline heard a soft chuckle from him. "I'm right here where you want me to be. I took on your stupid advice and went to see the world... well, Paris, of course. Maybe, I'll head on to Rome next but I plan on staying here to study and have fun... Um..." It was getting hard for Caroline to say something. She doesn't know if he will hang up or answer.
"Caroline." Her eyes shot open when she heard him say her name. She could feel him near. Caroline stood up and started to look around. "Klaus... I know you're always watching me. But why can't I see you?" she asked as she broke in to tears when she saw him, standing by the lamp post... staring at her with that smug look on his face. "Don't follow me. We'll see each other again." With those words to hold on to, the Original Hybrid hung up and disappeared without a trace.

"He called me and I saw him, Stefan." Caroline flopped on the couch with two plates full of spaghetti, chicken, fries and chips in both her hands that was good enough for two people. She had her phone on loudspeaker.
- Well, what did he say? - Stefan spoke. - Ihope he said something meaningful for her darling sister. - Rebekah joined in the conversation. Apparently, Rebekah turned Stefan's phone on loudspeaker. She could her the two silently bickering, she giggled a bit.
"Well, when I saw him... he suddenly said that I shouldn't follow him and that we'll see each other again. It's frustrating, you guys!" She said then nibbled on a chicken drumstick.
- Ah, my brother, being poetic as always. Isn't he Stefan? - She heard Rebekah say. - Or weird. Don't worry about it. By the way, where are the pictures that you promised to send yesterday? - Stefan said as he laughed in the end.
"Wait, I'll send them in right now. It'll be there in quick second." Caroline said as she reached for her laptop and pressed 'Enter' to send the pictures to her good friend, "Did it came in?" she asked when she heard a beep on the other side.
- Yep, it's here. Wow! These are good pictures, Caroline. - Stefan said. - Quite impressive. - Rebekah complimented her, - I'd like to go to Paris again. - She heard the Original say.
"Well, I'll be waiting for that. I'll talk to you guys later. I still have to call mom." She said as she smiled.
The moment they hung up, the doorbell echoed through the house. She went to see who it was using her vampire speed. When she swung open the door, a woman with black spiky hair and brown eyes was there and a man with black hair with blonde streaks and black eyes was with her. Caroline could easily distinguish their scent. They were hybrids and they were the ones that Klaus sent to live next door. "Bonsoir, Mlle Caroline." the female hybrid greeted as she reached out to shake her hand, "I'm Jessica Carter and this is my husband, Luke Carter. We're your new neighbors." she added.
Caroline was in shock, she shook hands with them and smiled, "I didn't know there were nice Hybrids around here in Paris." the blonde vampire said.
"He's here, isn't he?" Caroline stated. She had a worried look on her face that Jessica held her hand, "Don't worry about him. He's travelling around. He just stopped here to make sure that you're well taken care of." The woman said. Luke smiled, "Now this is settled, why don't we have dinner tomorrow at our place, Caroline?" He offered.
Caroline smiled and said, "I'd love that. Thanks."
For the first time, other than the people in the restaurant across the street wanted to be her friend in this lovely city.
The chef from the restaurant came out and wave at her. "Belle Mlle Caroline, c'est pour vous." he held up a white Tupperware. When she touched it, she yelped, "Qu'est-ce qui est cela, Pierre? Is this ice cream?" she eyed the old man.
"C'est ma spécialité, Glace de Lavande d'airelle. I hope you enjoy it." Pierre said as he left the young vampire to enjoy the ice cream.
She suddenly felt someone somewhere was staring at her. 'Thanks for always spoiling me with gifts.' Caroline mumbled to herself as she closed the door.
Somewhere around the corner, a man with dirty blonde hair and blue-green eyes leaned on the wall of an empty alley. He smiled as he placed his hands in his pockets and walked away. "I'll see you soon, love."
