Tommy had in his bag the old envelop he found in the attic unopened. He was determined to find out who was Lady Ezra and what story she had with the library to have her belongings (he assumed) kept in the attic. He asked Lycra before she went home that evening about what to do with the things in the attic and she said he could get rid of the unnecessary junks and keep only useful books. He assumed that Lycra would not be interested in finding out what was inside the personal envelop addressed to Lady Ezra.
It was late in the evening and the sky is covered in grey clouds indicating that there would be rain later in that day. He quickened his pace to avoid getting caught in sudden rain pour. He was lucky enough as he arrived at his small apartment in time. Droplets of rain began to pour as soon as he reached for his door.
"Phew!" he was relieved. Taking few deep breaths and few moments to relieve his heart beat. Then he quickly shut the door behind him, turning on the light as it's getting darker in his room.
The rain made him forget about the envelop for a while but now he could not wait to see what inside, battling his guilt for opening someone's property. It could be something important or some kind of love letter. His curiosity maxed.
Sitting on the second hand leather couch with his bag on his lap, he did not take too long to take out the envelop out. He examined it for a few second before reaching for a pen knife from the pocket of his bag and started tearing the top seal of the envelop. He peeked inside. It was just an ordinary paper, well preserved thanks to the thick envelop. He pulled it out and found out that it is not as ordinary as he thought it was.
The paper was quite thick and coarse as if it was produced long before paper pressing machine exist. However, it was looking as crisp as new. The writing on top of the pages were handwritten in black quilt ink. The hand writing style was too neat and well arranged. The head of the letter read:
Letter of Appointment
Lady Ezra of Hartshire
"Okay....." He scoffed. The head of the letter itself was suspicious. Hartshire? Could it be a place somewhere? His brain keep questioning himself. He continued reading.
In the favour of the majesty King Arthur The Third, ...
"King Arthur the Third..? How many King Arthur were there in history anyway..?" he kept reading.
...who reign in the age of the dragon, I , Sir Morgan, Head Knight of The Court, hereby request the presence of Lady Ezra of Hartshire to the court of the King to be knighted as the First Protector of the Kingdom of Britania.
His raised his brow. Still taking some time to process what he just read. This..? He thought. This is probably the rarest treasure that he had ever encounter in his lifetime and it was from that rusty attic of the town library. Or this could be a work of any writer for a screenplay. He was suspicious. No, no! This could not be a treasure, this must be a prank. There was no such place as Hartshire in England as far as he know and who was this Sir Morgan. He sounded so fake.
"No way... This must be Lycra's prank," he tossed the papers on the coffee table in front of him. He was certain that Lycra set this up that is why she asked him to clear the attic. Thinking of how foolish of him to fall into such prank, his hope for finding something interesting evaporates.
He sighed.
