Song: Drive - Halsey
LYRA'S POV
Sorry guys this is going to be quite a slow chapter because there is alot of plot development and there won't be many moments between Lyra and Sebastian.
I couldn't sleep. How could I? I was basically waiting for my judgement day. I wanted to wait downstairs and wait in the living room by the door all night until Sebastian walked back through the door but Ethan had to basically rag me up to bed. Told me I desperately needed to rest. But I couldn't. I had probably come up with at least a hundred scenarios of how tomorrow morning would go and somehow every scenario ended badly.
I sluggishly rolled over to glance at the clock by my side, wondering how long left i had to endure this torture. 4.56 am. Fucking great. I contemplated going to wake up Ross or Ethan but yesterday had been draining for both of them so it was best not to. Maybe I should try and get an hour in. One hour of sleep is better than none i guess.
What was meant to be an hours power nap turned into a three hour deep sleep. I was awaken by hushed but deep voices downstairs. I looked at the time and it was just past 8am. Could he be there now? Should I wait? I quietly creeped over to my door, silently thanking Ethan for not having squeaky floorboards. I tried to listen through my door but it was as muffled as it was from my bed. I pricked open the door but only left a marginal space in between. I could hear the two voices more clearly now, discreetly but clearly.
"He's my uncle Nico, yours too," That was definitely Sebastian. Even though he didn't have the dominating power in his voice this time, I could still recognise it was him.
"Seb, you know theres always been something off about him."
"Don't be stupid,"
"Seb." He did not reply after that. What did that mean? "So do you believe her?"
"Do you?"
"It doesn't matter what I think cos I know you won't listen to my opinion anyway. Do you believe what she told you?"
There was an excruciatingly long pause.
"Every damn word."
A sigh left my body like water gushing down Victoria Falls. He actually believed me.
"But I know she's hiding something else," Oh fuck.
"Maybe she is, and maybe in time she'll tell you but for now, i think she just needs your help."
Damn Nico was good at this. Something was then said but I couldn't hear what it was.
"So what do we do with Andrew now?" I heard the nerves laced in Nico's voice, he knew the severity of what would happen if word got to Sam that i had told someone about everything. I hoped to god he wouldn't risk that for my sake.
"Hold on," was all that Sebastian replied with, and then it went quiet, I opened the door a tiny bit more to try and figure out what was going on but it stayed quiet. Just as i leaned further, the door was yanked open and instead of splatting to the floor, I was enveloped in two big arms. My eyes were met with Sebastian's stern ones and one disapproving and raised eyebrow as he held me inches away from the marble floor. I tried to give him a little smile, knowing i had been caught red handed which just resulted in him dropping me from his hands and landing on the floor with a thump.
"In future Miss Woods, don't listen in to my conversations." I slowing rose from my position on the floor, feeling very embarrassed and slightly sore. Nico was looking at me shaking his head slightly as if to say "well done," sarcastically.
"I didn't mean too i'm sorry." Without looking at me again he composedly vanished downstairs with Nico right behind him. I decided to follow them since he knew I had heard the conversation. When I had reached them in the kitchen, Sebastian was leaning on the kitchen counter in deep thought with Nico watching him intently, awaiting for what we were to do next. Just as I was about to ask what was going to happen, a sleepy and slouched Ethan came slugging down the stairs, eyes still half closed, completely oblivious to the other presences in his house. When he rubbed his eyes fully open, he jumped back seeing us three staring expectedly back at him.
