Song: Sacrifice by Black Atlas
LYRA'S POV
A week later
"I'm still not happy with this."
"Lyra, how many times have I told you? It's for the best."
"But what if-" He cuts me off by pulling me in for a bone bruising hug, and thats when the tears finally fall.
"Don't worry we will be just fine." After Sebastian suggesting that I didn't have to leave, I decided that I would stay in my grandparents house with my parents where we would all be safe under one roof. Apparently that wasn't the plans of my parents. My dad still stupidly felt guilty for the threats made against them by Sam and Andrew and decided that they would both go into hiding until the problem was resolved. Obviously when I first heard their plans, I was enraged, calling them every name under the heavens. I knew that Sam would be able to find them. No matter where they were. "Lyra just remember I used to be apart of this gang too, if I don't want to be found you can make sure that I damn well won't be found."
I nodded, still not completely convinced. He gave me a firm kiss on my forehead as my mother came out of the house with her personal suitcase. Nico and Seb were bringing the final last bigs and chucking them into their getaway car. My father goes up to them shaking both their hands and as he goes up to Seb he whispers something in ear which makes Sebastian squint his eyes in confusion but he quickly recovers and gives a nod of affirmation. My mother comes running down the pathway with red eyes and a snotty nose making me giggle a little. She squeezes me into a hug burying her head into my neck, sobbing profusely.
"I'm going to miss you so much baby." She chokes out, making me tear up again.
"I'm going to miss you too mom." She finally raises her head and gives me a sweet smile before looking past me watching my father and Sebastian interact.
"You know when I found out that your father was involved in the mafia, I promised myself that I would break it off with him and forget him." She says sadly. I let out a humourless laugh.
"Well what the hell happened there?" She gives me another smile, grabbing my shoulders and making me face them both front on.
"I fell in love. And when you love someone so much, it's like you lose all rational power. You'll risk anything for them. Even if it means your own life." My mother was always a hopeless romantic which never really worked well in my favour. I scoffed at her fantasy talk.
"Thats a bit extreme isn't it?" She chuckled, stroking my hair lovingly.
"You'll understand soon enough I'm sure." Before I could question what she meant, she too kissing my forehead, and took her suitcase to the car. She gave Nico and Sebastian a hug which they politely returned, wiping the tears from her eyes, as I came to stand by them.
"Remember Sebastian, once Samual figures out that me and Laura have left for good, he'll figure out that we know what is going on." He gritted his teeth before he spoke again. "I hate to say it, but the fucker is a smart guy." Sebastian looks down but agrees solemnly. My father gives me another kiss on the forehead and I whisper to him to stay safe. "We'll be back before you know it." They both get in the car and my mother gives me a little wink as my father pulls out the drive. And then they were gone. To fuck knows where.
"What did my father tell you?" I asked Sebastian, who was blankly watching the car leave the street.
"Nevermind, you should get some rest, you'll get your job back at the bar tomorrow." And with that he walked into his house, not sparing a glance behind. Nico let out a sigh of disappointment at Sebastian behaviour and turned to face me.
