eddie was lying on the bed along with richie.

eddie was looking up at him with curious eyes. richie had been oddly quiet all day. there was no voices, no flirting, nothing.

he let richie in but all he got was a simple greeting, nothing more.

'did something happen?'

'is he sick?'

eddie didn't want to admit it but he was worried, he had never seen richie like this before.

richie was reading poetry to help put eddie to sleep.

eddie looked down at his empty hand, waiting for richies to be placed in it, warming his heart.

usually richie would slip his hand into eddies with a whine or a retort.

"rich."

"what?"

"is there something wrong?" eddie fidgets. "you seem different."

"i'm totally fine."

eddies stomach twisted a bit. from the second richie had walked through the door he looked different he seemed different.

if eddie had to compare it to the weather he would say it was a cloudy rainy day. maybe with some thunder.

eddie felt if he got closer, richie would bite him.

"you.." richie started, snapping eddie from his thoughts. "never mind. forget it."

richie slurred the end of his sentence, making eddie more worried. richie wanted to say something, but he's not letting it out.

richie seemed like he was holding a lot back lately.

eddie felt like he did something wrong. nothing came to mind of course, nothing he could have done to bother richie. richie seemed okay at school, eddie didn't make any stupid and clumsy mistakes when richie arrived.

eddie got ignored by richie though when he greeted him this afternoon.

they locked eyes in the hall and eddie waved, but richie walked by.

richie looked like a child who lost his toy.

"i'm not really curious but- i heard something when i passed by," richie spoke a bit nervously. eddies heart thrummed in his chest. "you.. today i.. heard you got asked it?"

"it?"

"a girl in class 3 called you over?"

"oh, that.."

eddies heart beat sped up, and his face blushed.

"but how did you know that?"

"i said, i heard it when passing by." richie answered bluntly.

eddie covered his face with his hand, it was an unexpected question.

even his own classmates didn't know a girl asked him out today.

but how does he know?

eddie was so nervous he couldn't speak. he had turned the girl down, because well, eddie was gay.

eddies stomach dropped low and his breath hitched.

"you know.." he started.

"so what happened?" richie interrupted him.

eddie could feel anxiety rise through his body. "w,what?"

"she asked you out. and?"

richies eyes shone as if he was going to attack.
