*Jacey's POV*
I was standing in front of the hospital wishing this was all just a dream. The feeling of losing someone is just unbearable. Ignoring my thoughts, I hesitantly opened the doors. The calm ambiance of the hospital sent chills running down my spine. Luke's presence made me feel a bit more at ease.We proceeded to head for the nurse behind the counter. "Hello m'am how may I help you?" the lady behind the counter greeted. She was in her late 30's give or take. "Uhm yeah I'm here for Diana Wilson."
"Okay one moment please."The sound of the clock ticking made me more anxious by the second.
Luke must've noticed as he patted my shoulder and gave me a reassuring smile. I tried to smile back but my lips just won't budge. "Alright, what's your relationship with her?" Asked the lady.
"She's my aunt."
"Room 403, make it quick, visiting hours are over in 25 minutes."
"Thanks" I mumbled. We got in the elevator and headed for the 4th floor. "400..,401..,402...., ah here it is! 403!" Luke exclaimed. I followed Luke into the room, and there laid aunt Diana's lifeless body. "Jace! God oh how much I've worried for you!" Amelia threw her arms around my waisted and pulled me in for a tight hug.
That's when I lost it. Tears were streaming down my face, they were automatic. It wasn't the type of cry where you'd be crying out in pain. It was the silent kind of cry where you aren't able to tell what you're crying for. It's all empty. You're empty. My tears were the only thing that could fill the void in my heart.
I never realized how much I've missed the warm embrace of someone who cares. No words are needed, just the presence of Amelia made me feel wanted. I genuinely don't know where I'd be without her. "I-I was so s-scared, a-alone, so alone and so l-lonely." I managed to choke out. "Shhh. Baby girl it's alright, I love you and I will always look out for you. You mean to me more than anyone else and you know that."
Amelia pulled away from the hug and looked me in the eye. "Jacey Robinson, you are my bestest friend ever and if I'm not here for you than I don't know who else I'm here for." I pulled Amelia in for another tight hug. This time tighter than ever, I was clinging on to her for dear life. Amelia chuckled and hugged me back. Oh how I love her to death.
I could see Luke shift uncomfortably from the corner of my eyes. I let go of Amelia and sat down in the chair beside aunt Diana. Her hands were cold and her face seemed extra pale. "You must wake up soon or I won't forgive you for leaving me alone." I whispered. My hands and lips were beginning to quiver and that's right when the doctors walked in.
"Hello, you must be a relative of Diana Wilsons am I correct?" "Yes that's right, Diana is my aunt and I'm Jacey." "Nice to meet you Jacey I am doctor Williams." "Nice to meet you too." I greeted. "So about your aunts situation.. I'm sorry to say this but we are unable to determine when she will gain conscious and furthermore, when she does were afraid she will have amnesia due to the trauma her brain has suffered."
I sat in silence staring into a space of nothing. Nothing. There was no reaction. My mind just simply won't process what he'd said. It was like he spoke to me in a foreign language. My mind didn't understand. But my tears did. They were about to spill. Then finally a single tear made its way down to my lap. Then another, and another.
Doctor Williams and the nurse left a moment ago and it was just Luke and Amelia. Luke rushed over and shook me. I just let him. I don't think anyone could get a reaction out of me right now. He just shook and shook. "Jace! Jacey! Are you with me?!Get it together!" Luke screamed. I looked at Lukes pained expression. I continued to stare deep into his eyes as if I wasn't even sane anymore. His worried eyes roamed over every inch of my tear stained face.
"Jace.." I heard Amelia whisper. I turned my head to face her. She was also crying. Why is she crying. Don't cry. "Don't cry.." I whispered in the quietest tone possible. It was barely audible, I'd be surprised if she heard. But it was the movement of my lips that made her cry even more. She knew how much I cared for her. She knows that even when I'm in pain I will still worry for her.

"Luke what do we do, she's not taking this in too well."
"I don't think there's much we can do other than staying by her side."I slowly opened by eyes and everything came rushing back to my mind. I went to the hospital with luke to visit aunt Diana and the doctors said tha- oh. I refuse to believe what's happening, no matter how naive im being i still choose to not accept it. It'll at least make life easier to live.
I slowly took in my surroundings and realized I was at home in my own bed.. How? How I got home was all a blur in my mind but I know for a fact that luke and Amelia didn't leave me. I heard them talking downstairs in the kitchen. They're so worried about me and all I've done is continue to let them worry. I haven't even thought about how they felt. I was selfish enough to not think about what I can do to make them feel better.
I mentally slapped myself and got my shit together. I'm not going to let them worry anymore. It's my turn to do something back for them. I got out of bed and made my way to my bathroom. I stared at reflection in the mirror. Is Jacey Robinson really just selfish and weak little girl who can't do anything but make others worry for her? No. No she isn't. She can take care of herself. She can take care of others as well. I took a deep breath, stood tall and smiled. Yes that's right, I'm Jacey Robinson and I'm a fighter. I won't give up so easily. I tied my hair up in a bun and splashed my face with cold water. There. That'll keep me from being so tired and weak.
I walked downstairs and walked into the kitchen with my biggest smile plastered across my face. Luke and Amelia diverted their attention towards me. "Jace.." They both said in unison. "If only you two could see your faces! You look like you just witnessed a flying pig!" I laughed. "Jace everything alright?" Luke asked. "Yeah, why? Of course, everything's fine, I'm fine." I answered enthusiastically. Amelia and Luke exchanged looks of worry. "I'm fine I promise." I told them.
*ring ring* Amelia's phone was ringing. Must be her mother whose worried to death wondering where her daughter has been all day. "Heey mo- yes, yes, no, okay, I will, yes mom, mom, mom okay, don't worry, ok bye." Amelia hung up and stared at me with guilt in her eyes. "It's fine, you should get going its very late. Thanks for today, I'm very happy." I explained. "Bu-" Amelia was cut off by luke, "jace is right, you should go, I'm sure your mom is very worried, I'll be here to watch jace."
"Alright." Amelia gave me one last hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I'll see you tomorrow." She said and walked away. I let go of the door and looked at luke. "Luke you should go to, I'll be fine I promised." I reassured. "Jace I want to stay, I'll be here for you remember? Just like I promised." Luke stated. I closed the door and walked over to Luke. I took a step closer and slowly wrapped my arms around his waist. I rested my head on his chest and just listened to the sound of his heartbeat.
I could tell Luke was taken aback by my actions since he hesitantly hugged me back. It didn't matter though because I know we aren't a thing anymore. I don't even know why I'm not mad at him anymore. At least not right now. He was genuinely here for me when I found out about aunt Diana and I need to let him know I'm thankful for that.
I slowly stood up on my tippy toes and quietly whispered in his ears "thank you luke."
