Blake's heart was pounding as she left the court yard her hands shaking as she tried to keep her cool. She couldn't believe Spencer was here. After everything—after all she'd done to protect herself and her baby—here he was, threatening to unravel it all.Behind her, Olivia called out, "Blake, wait up!"
Blake slowed down, letting Olivia catch up. She didn't want to face her friend's questions, but Olivia's concern was written all over her face.
"What was that all about?" Olivia asked, out of breath as they reached a quieter part of campus.
Blake tried to act nonchalant, but her voice shook as she answered, "It's... nothing. Just someone I used to know back in Crenshaw."
Olivia frowned, clearly not convinced. "Well, it didn't look like nothing. And you looked... afraid."
Blake scoffed, though her defenses were cracking. "Please, Olivia. I don't get afraid. Especially not of guys like him."
But Olivia was her best friend, and Blake could see her piecing it together. Olivia knew Blake had secrets, knew there were things she didn't talk about from her past, and this was the closest she'd ever come to spilling one of them.
Before Olivia could press further, they heard footsteps behind them. Both turned, and there was Spencer, approaching with purpose. He stopped a few steps away, his gaze intense.
"Blake," he said, softer this time, like he was pleading with her. "We need to talk."
Blake looked away, arms crossed. She knew he wouldn't back down, but she couldn't let him in. Not after she'd worked so hard to build this new life in Beverly.
"Spencer, there's nothing to talk about," she said, barely keeping her voice steady. "Whatever you think you know, just forget it."
Spencer's expression was hurt but determined. "I can't forget. You can't just disappear, have a kid, and act like it never happened."
Olivia's eyes went wide, looking from Blake to Spencer. "Wait—what?"
Blake swallowed hard, feeling trapped, feeling everything she'd tried to bury coming back to the surface. She looked at Olivia, then at Spencer, and knew that nothing would ever be the same again.
