In the library. Harry, Cassiopeia, and Ron are seated, reading. Hermione comes up with a huge book. She thumps it onto the table. Harry jumps.
Cassiopeia pov
"I had you looking in the wrong section! How could I be so stupid? I checked this out a few weeks ago for a bit of light reading." "This is light?" Asks my brother and I roll my eyes. Hermione glares. "Of course! Here it is! Nicholas Flamel is the only known maker of the Philosopher's Stone!" Ron and Harry both speak. "The what?" "Honestly, don't you three read?" Hey don't put me with them I knew what you were taking about I read that book too. "You are lying prove it what is it the Cassiopeia? I roll my eyes at my extremely annoying little brother. The Philosopher's Stone is a legendary substance with astonishing powers. It will turn any metal into pure gold and produces the Elixir of Life, which will make the drinker immortal." Hermione nods her head saying she is right I smirk proudly. "Immortal?" Asks Ron. "It means you'll never die." Says Hermione and I laugh. "I know what it means!" He glared at me angrily. "The only stone currently in existence belongs to Mr. Nicholas Flamel, the noted alchemist, who last year celebrated his 665th birthday!" That's what Fluffy's guarding on the 3rd floor. That's what's under the trapdoor...the Philosopher's Stone! "Guys as much as I would love to stay and chat with you. I promised Draco I would meet him to do homework.
Ron pov
I grumble at the fact she's hanging with Draco once again. "Ron don't pout he is my best friend I don't complain when you hang with your best friends why complain about my best friend?" She looks up at the doorway and smiles. We turn and see Draco leaning against the door smiling at her. She stands up and walk over to him smiling wide. He puts his arm around her and they walk away.
3rd person
Hermione, Ron and Harry are running across the wet ground to Hagrids hut. They knock on the door and it opens.
"Hagrid!" "Oh, hello. Sorry, don't wish to be rude, but I'm in no fit state to entertain today." Harry, Hermione, and Ron all say. "We know about the Philosopher's Stone!" "Oh." They all go into Hagrid's small hut. "We think Snape's trying to steal it. But Cassiopeia Ron's sister says it is not him he's innocent apparently. "Snape? Blimey, Harry, you're not still on about him, are you?" "Hagrid, we know he's after the Stone. We just don't know why." "Snape is one of the teachers protecting the Stone! He's not about to steal it!" "What?" "You heard. Right. Come on, now, I'm a bit preoccupied today." Wait a minute. Ron and a big black boarhound, FANG, meet. Fang sniffs Ron. One of the teachers? "Of course! There are other things defending the Stone, aren't there? Spells, enchantments." Exclaims there smart muggle-born friend. "That's right. Waste of bloody time, if you ask me." Hermione looks at Ron, who is being sniffed in the face by Fang. Ron shuffles away. Ain't no one gonna get past Fluffy. Hehe, not a soul knows how. Except for me and Dumbledore. I shouldn't have told you that. I shouldn't have told you that." Something rattles and he shows us an egg in a caldron. "Is that...a dragon?"
"That's not just a dragon. That's a Norwegian Ridgeback! My brother Charlie works with these in Romania."
"Isn't he beautiful? Oh. Bless him, look. He knows his mummy. Hehe. Hallo, Norbert." "Norbert?" "Yeah, well, he's got to have a name, doesn't he? Don't you, Norbert?" "Who's that?" "Malfoy." "Oh, dear."
The three are walking back through a corridor. An owl screeches.
Harry's pov
Hagrid always wanted a dragon. He told me so the first time I met him. "It's crazy. And worse, Malfoy knows." I don't understand. Is that bad? "It's bad."
We stop as McGonagall, in her nightgown, appears. "Good evening."
Malfoy appears smugly beside her.
McGonagall's classroom. The three of us accused are standing in front of McGonagall's desk, while Malfoy is feet away, smirking. "Nothing, I repeat, nothing gives a student the right to walk about the school at night. Therefore, as punishment for your actions, 50 points will be taken." 50?! I exclaim I'm surprise.
"Each. And to ensure it doesn't happen again, all five of you will receive detention." "Excuse me, Professor. Perhaps I heard you wrong. I thought you said..."the five of us." "No, you heard me correctly, Mr. Malfoy. You see, as honorable as your intentions were, you too were out of bed after hours. You will serve detention with your classmates. Plus Ms. Weasley is always attached to your hip so I assumed she was with you. "No she wasn't with me told me don't be out pass curfew and if I was don't get caught or tattletale." "Then only the four of you will be attending. And 40 points to Ms. Weasley for being that responsible." I don't think I have ever seen Draco not blame someone else as well. I would have thought he make up a lie to get Cassiopeia in trouble along with us because he's Malfoy. "That should be the reason he would get her in trouble. If you are forgetting they are best friends Harry." I still don't understand how they can be best friends. That's when Ron starts ranting about his sister and friend. "That is not all Draco's mom brought her clothes shopping. When she went over to the Malfoy's for winter break. Honestly they treat her like their own child it's sickening." Hermione cuts in to the conversation defending Cass and Draco. "Ron I think it is nice they care for her. Plus that means the more money you have over summer." "I hate it the Malfoys hate all Weasley's why her." A. She's Draco's best friend. B. She's a pureblood Slytherin. "It doesn't mean that she can be friend with them." But it doesn't mean she can't be friends with them.
The next night detention with Hagrid in the forbidden forest.
Filch walks us to where we have to go speaking. "A pity they let the old punishments die. There was a time detention would find you hanging by your thumbs in the dungeons. God, I miss the screaming." Draco gulps, and Hermione rushes by. "You'll be serving detention with Hagrid tonight. He's got a little job to do inside the dark forest. Hagrid appears with a crossbow. He sniffles. "A sorry lot this, Hagrid. Oh, good God, man, you're not still on about that bloody dragon, are you?" Hagrid sniffs and sighs "Norbert's gone. Dumbledore sent him off to Romania to live in a colony." Hermion speaks. "Well, that's good, isn't it? He'll be with his own kind." "Yeah, but what if he don't like Romania?" Filch rolls eyes. "What if the other dragons are mean to him? He's only a baby, after all." "Oh, for Gods sake, pull yourself together, man. You're going into the forest, after all. Got to have your wits about you." "The forest? I thought that was a joke! We can't go in there. Students aren't allowed. And there are..." a howl sounds..."werewolves!"
"There's more than werewolves in those trees, lad. You can be sure of that." Draco looks frightened. "Nighty-night." Filch Exits. Then a familiar beautiful red head appears and walks to Draco who smiles.
"Right. Let's go. Wait Cassiopeia when did you get here you're not in trouble?" "Well I couldn't let my best friend serve detention alone. Or my brother and his friends that is just cruel." He was scared so she held his hand squeezing it.
