"When it skulks on a reef!" Richie sang dancing ahead across the road his shoes kicking up gravel as he did so. "And has two sets of teeth." He spun around flashing a brilliant smile at Bill who watched bemusedly.
"That's a moray!" Richie cried dancing along the street skipping happily. The dirty looks from passerby's seeming to not affect Richie in the slightest. Bill loved that aspect of Richie, he was so carefree and honest with himself. He didn't give two shits what anyone thought about him and if he did he didn't let it show.

Bill sprinted to catch up to Richie who continued to hum cheerily to himself. He was in a subdued happy glaze today. Bill had followed Richies instructions he gave over the phone last night, he had no idea how the boy got his landline and at this point he was too scared to ask.

His father had shouted for him. "Bill! Someone's on the line for you." Bill perked his head snapping up from the comic book he was indulged in. He shoved his bookmark in his place and dashed down the stairs hand skipping over the banister. He rounded the corner scampering into the kitchen taking the dangling phone in his hands holding it up to his ear. "Hello?" Bill spoke into the phone trying to hide the excitement in his voice, he rarely got calls, and by rarely he meant not ever had Bill gotten a phone call.

"Billy." Richies voice crackled over the line causing Bill to smile.

"Rich! Hey, w-what's up?" He nearly shouted his father shot him a look and Bill piped down turning his back to his father crouching in on himself. "I mean. Hey R-Richie.." Bill spoke softly into the phone.

Richie snorted then quickly picked up the speed getting to the root of his call.
"Don't bring your bike tomorrow okay? We're walking, gotta get them gains baby." He sneered making Bill chuckle his finger absentmindedly twirling the chord like a lovesick girl. He caught himself embarrassed and dropped the chord.
"Yeah! Okay, I'll s-s-see you t-tomorrow." Bill replied, Richie shouted his goodbye Bill mumbling a quick goodnight of his own then hung up with a goofy grin.

Richie stopped in his tracks and held a hand out for Bill to pause.
Bill watched him curiously opening his mouth to speak Richie quickly slapping a hand over that as well.
Bill licked his palm making Richie squeal and wipe it off on Bill's shirt.
"Listen!" Richie whisper shouted glaring at Bill who silently obeyed him keeping an ear out.

There was a sound of distant laughter, like kids playing. Bill shrugged, "So? Some kids are out playing in the woods who cares." Bill mumbled starting down the hill they'd ungracefully fallen down the day prior. Richie moved quickly running up next to him.
"Yeah! But as far as I know the only people who know about this place is my friends and I." Richie grabbed Bills arm walking slowly out into the clearing and scoffing surely enough his friends were clambering around chatting animatedly amongst themselves.
"You assholes are hanging out without me?" Richie demanded crossly the group of kids pausing to take in the sight of them.

Bill scratched the back of his neck sheepishly as their eyes raked over him. He recognized a handful of them, seeing them around school once in awhile. But nothing could prepare Bill for the ginger bombshell that stepped forward.
"Looks like you're doing just fine yourself Rich, who's your friend?" The girl flicked her tongue out wetting her lip then winked flirtatiously in Bill's direction making his cheeks glow.

Richie shook his head quickly pushing Bill into the clearing who's feet decided to stop working.
"Not fine! You were all just going to hang out without me? Not cool." He muttered feeling betrayed.
Bill caught his breath the redhead stealing it from his lungs.
"Bill." He choked out, "M-my names Bill." Bill breathes voice close to a whisper as he stared at the girl with curious eyes.

She returned his gaze grinning widely. "Beverly." Beverly provided smoothing out the baby blue fabric of her dress that made her eyes pop. She tucked a stray curl behind her ear glancing up at Bill from under her lashes. Bill stood dumbfounded admiring the way the dress hugged her curves nicely, something he wasn't used to recognizing. He never really looked at girls bodies, or girls in general.
