Bill rang the Tozier residence incessantly or until his mother yelled at him to stop ringing the damn phone. Bill paced the kitchen practicing the words he wanted to say in his head. They knocked around his skull like a broken record.
He needed someplace quiet someplace tranquil his house was looming over him making Bill feel trapped. He sighed heavily digging his hands through his hair. Bill couldn't get his mind off of Richie, he needed to make things right between them and get everything else off his chest.Bill knew if he didn't his mind would surely explode with the pure heaviness of his thoughts. He opened the garage door and climbed aboard his beloved bike pedaling out onto the driveway. He didn't think about Richie skipping and dancing down the street when he crossed the bustling road. Bill didn't think about them walking their bikes alongside each other the day they met. He didn't think about leaving them in the brush and tramping through the woods freely.
He forced the memories down as far as they would go fearing tears would spring to his eyes.Bill pulled up to the edge of the woods his bottom lip caught between his teeth. He looked out at the large expanse of terrain. He left his bike by the road and slowly walked into the line of trees, feeling a heaviness in his chest. Bill remembered a time when the air was easier to breathe here now the stuffy town air was preferred over the pain it brought to his memory.
He sighed heavily seeing the space beside the creek where they had been playing Black Jack. Bill chuckled weakly his eyes beginning to sting. He reached the clearing and paused. Bill slowly entered the world they made for themselves his tears now tracking down his cheeks. He hugged himself sobbing silently.
"Richie.." Bill whined crumbling to the ground."Fuck off Bill." Richies annoyed voice echoed from behind him. Bill cracked his eyes open his lips glued together. The words he had practiced in his mind now disappeared.
He turned around seeing Richie standing there with a frown, his eyes told a different story they were wet.Bill stumbles to get to his feet breathing shakily. "R-Richie.. please can I t-talk to you?" He requested weakly clenching his own shirt in his fist needing something to hold on to scared he'd lose his grounding.
Richie watched him with a sad gaze and nodded, "I really need to apologize.. I don't want a girl to come between us, I don't care if you and Beverly date." Richie began but his voice was flat and pained. Richie looked up briefly at Bill then cast his eyes back downward.
"I'm sorry.. I was a dick." He whispered.Bill felt his soul shatter. He strode toward Richie grabbing his face in his hands tilting his chin upward. "No, I w-was the dick." He choked out. Bill felt a flurry of butterflies in his stomach, he took a deep breath and began speaking his mind.
"The way I feel when I'm with you.." Bill started his hands still cupping Richies slowly reddening face.
"Are... Are you going to kiss me?" Richie blurted quietly his voice sounded wrecked. Bill heaved an airy laugh not being able to finish his sentiment without being interrupted by Richies motor-mouth. Bill then began closing the distance between them.
He cupped Richies cheek, rubbing his thumb over his cheekbone and feeling the soft hair that edged his ears. Bill could sense the anticipation rolling off Richie and grinned bringing their foreheads together."Richie.. I'm the happiest when I'm with you." He whispered his confession his lips ghosting over Richies. Bill connected them, their mouths slotting together. The kiss lasted but a moment, the taste of Richies 'Big Red' gum lighting up Bills tastebuds.
Bill broke the kiss first, breathing heavily against the others open mouth. Richie gripped onto Bill holding him by his jaw breathing shallowly against him. "I thought you didn't want me." Richie chuckled weakly staring up at Bill with a wet smile. Bill frowned pulling Richie closer, "It's you. It's always been you." He whispered honestly pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"I'm sorry it took me this long to realize it." Bill mumbled shifting awkwardly thinking about the two weeks he used Beverly as a crutch hiding his true feelings from himself.Richie gleamed at the simple form of affection leaning into his kiss.
"God, you sound like a goddamn Hallmark movie." He snorted punching Bill in the chest playfully his eyes glimmering with a smile. Bill laughed and grabbed Richies sides making the other boy howl with laughter. That was a sound Bill could never get over, the sound of Richies laughter loud and abrasive so sudden. Richie ran away dashing through the fields to get to where they parked their bikes laying in the brush.Richie hopped on his bike looking over his shoulder for Bill. Bill was close on his tail pulling trusty old 'Silver' up and swinging his leg over.
"Think you can beat me?" Bill hollered confidently pedaling to catch up to Richie who was already flying down a hill screeching with both fear and excitement for what was in it for him.
Bill rode the back roads, easily catching up to Richie with his knowledge of the town.Richie screamed as Bill skid out in front of him causing Richie to slam on his brakes. He discarded his bike and started running, hoping Bill had some weird breathing problem he wasn't aware of.
Bill caught up with him easily scooping Richie up in his arms sending them tumbling to the ground. They rolled around on the ground falling back into an empty pasture.Bill sat up glaring affectionately at Richie.
"I hope we can always be like this." Richie gasped out between breaths his chest rising and falling harshly. He coughed into his arm, trying to catch his breath after Bill chased him down like a dog for its prey.Bill smiled and leaned down, nuzzling into the space between his neck and shoulder humming against the soft skin, breathing Richie in. "We will." Bill stated simply a knowing air to his voice. He propped his head up looking into Richies wide eyes.
"We will."-
