Chapter 2

Faintly, I heard the rush of water and the sunlight peaked through my eyes.  I felt the aches and pains through my entire body. God what happened? I tried to move, but couldn’t. Something was restricting me somehow. I glanced over to see a guy holding me down. I felt panic rising up and started to react. I jabbed my elbow below his ribs, and jumped up swiftly, pinning the man next to me down.  His eyes popped out of his eye sockets in surprise and started struggling. The unknown man swung his leg over my waist swiftly and flipped us over so he was on top! Gah, who was this frustrating man? I squirmed to get out of his hold but his weight was too much.

“Jeez CALM DOWN!” He ordered, glaring at me as I struggled to get away from him, but his strength was overpowering.

“WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?!?” I screamed back, just as irritating as him. That was impressive for me because he was beyond annoying, and I barely know him.

“You don’t remember?” His voice softened as he gazed at me questionably. His lips an inch from mine and it was just as irritating as him.

“I could try and remember if you could just get off me.” My voice cracked at the end. Oh my god, I don’t even know this man. He smiled and helped me up and backed up to give me some space. When I got a good look at him, it all came rushing back; the knives, the alpha, and the boy in boxers.

“Oh shit! I am so sorry. Wow I am such an idiot! I am Marcy, and you are?” I smiled at him and gave him my hand in a kind offer.

“It’s Matt, and no problem. You kind of had a tough day yesterday.” He chuckled at me while taking my hand and shaking it.

I brushed it off and laughed. ”That was a tough day for you? You should see my life!”

“I’d rather not.”

“Wuss!”

“You shouldn’t be telling your knight in shining armor that he's a wuss, as I just saved you from being dinner.”

“I would have improvised somehow.” I glared at him. We were getting closer and closer, arguing when we heard growling about twenty feet from us, making both of us jump in surprise. Oh crap! I looked around for my knives and weapons, but was disappointed. Those damn bastards stole all my gear! Shit! I looked up at Matt to see him shifting into a monster. Ugh, I almost forgot he was one of those. I mean, he was so much nicer than the others, how could he be one of those? What am I saying? Nice? No, he is an annoying bastard just like the others. What is wrong with me! I shook my head to get all my stupid thoughts out and looked at Matt to see him looking at me expectantly.

“What?” I glared at him and he returned the glare right back at me. “No way in hell…” but was interrupted by the howling and growling getting closer. Gah! I will murder this pack one by one for this. I growled and jumped on Matt’s wolf’s back. His wolf was gray with white and reminded me of a cute husky dog.

His fur was oddly soft as I grabbed on to it like reins on a horse. I nudged his side with my foot like I would do as a horse to let him know I am ready, and he took off zooming in the other direction. The speed of his wolf created a constant strong breeze that felt amazing against my skin. I could get used to the thrill of this. I smiled as we raced along the riverside and away from those evil monsters.

After 1 hour of full on sprinting I felt Matt huffing and stuggling for a breath of air. He slowed down to a jog. “Are you ok there boy” I laughed mocking him. A growl came rumbling out and shook throughout his body. It only made me crack up laughing at him more. My laughing came to a halt when my stomach starting growling out of hungry.  Matt took the hint and changed directions.

We made it to the next town over and decided to have lunch at the local diner after we made it out of the woods. Matt smiled at me and took my hand in his

“What the hell are you think you are doing?” My eyes narrowed at him in suspicion.

“Relax. I am only trying to make us blend in here. We are a couple on vacation and getting away from the busy city,” He replied smoothly.

“Oh, and we couldn’t be siblings here on a family vacation?” I glared at him and ripped my hand out of his. ”Just forget it; I knew you guys were all monsters and perverts! God I am so stupid to think of you differently!” I yelled, and ran across the street to the café, pissed out of my mind. Stupid ass wolf!  I may be overreacting, but I just despise those beasts. I have to ditch this mutt

I entered the café and found a seat at the bar with people surrounding me, so that scumbag couldn’t seat next to me. I ordered a big juicy hamburger and devoured it before Matt could even come in. What? Can you blame a hungry girl?

“Are you sure you aren’t the monster?” a voice asked that belonged to that bastard Matt.

“Just leave me alone, ok!” I growled and pushed him away and got up to go pay. Man, maybe ditching him would be harder than I thought.

“No! We are in this together, you can’t back down!” He complained while grabbing my arm to keep me in place. I shook my arm out of his hold. That’s when a brilliant idea popped in that genius head of mine.

“Don’t touch me!” I yelled to get other people’s attention. That sucker has no idea who he is messing with.  A man with huge biceps came to my aid with a couple of his biker buddies.

“Is this man bothering you?” One of the men asked with concern. I swear, if you are a girl, everyone underestimates you, but I don’t mind all the time.

“Y-yes,” My voice cracked as I started blubbering. What can I say? Acting is a gift. “Just make him leave me alone!” I forced the tears out and wiped them away like I was embarrassed at being weak.

“It's ok sweetheart, we will take care of him, just go get a head start, ok?” One of them answered before taking Matt outside for a “friendly chat."

Great, now I need to work fast. I quickly paid for my meal and got directions to a local gun shop. Once knowing my information, I took off like a bullet. Once I entered, I got tons of new toys. You can say I love my job a little too much, but I don’t give a crap. I smiled at my new guns and knives. No, they are not silver nor have silver bullets. Do you think that myth is real? Well then now we know why you guys aren’t the hunters here.

I smiled, feeling back in place when I heard footsteps behind me. I looked over my shoulder but there was no one. Hmm, I must be imagining thing now. Wow I am getting paranoid. I kept walking down the street in the direction of parking lot when I heard the thumping of footsteps again. Wow, this person sucks at being sneaky.

As I went past a building, I turned the corner and pressed my back against the wall. I sucked my stomach in and plastered my back to the bricks. My breath came out ragged. A man turned the corner fast and stumbled over my foot, falling on his face. I placed my foot on the back of his neck with my hand gun out, and pointed it to his head. His blonde hair was bloody from the blow of the fall. He moaned in pain which made me unintentionally smirk.

“WHO ARE YOU?” I demanded, shaking my gun around as I shook in anger.

“Mortem pack!” He spluttered blood out of his mouth and tried to suck in air, but my foot was constricting. “Don’t kill me please!” He began, begging.

“All of you are the same, huge ego but when a little old me has a gun pointed to your head, you guys blubber like a baby. It is pathetic actually.” I smiled wickedly at the stupid mutt. I crouched down to face him and whispered into his ear quietly, “but you're pathetic ways won’t last long, don’t worry.” I grabbed my knife from my boot and slit his throat. Too bad I couldn’t try out my new shotgun; we were in public. It really is a shame.

I smirked and wiped my bloody knife on his shirt, and put it back in my boot. I glanced at my work before pouring gasoline on the corpse. I threw a match at the body and headed off to plan my escape. If a pathetic beginner tracker found me, then they are close and ready for attack. I sighed and threw my duffel bag with all my weapons over my shoulder, and headed towards the next bus station. I have one thing on my mind, revenge.
