It wasn't supposed to be like this. You were just a trader with your small freighter. The attacker had boarded your ship, making you wish you had hired crew or guards of some sort. Your breathing is the only sound in your room. You are lying underneath your bed, they are walking around near you. With every footstep your body quivers and shakes.
You were just heading to Papetoon's little market. You had obtained minerals and jewels you were going to sell. Now all of them would likely be stolen, for shame. At least you had your life, for now.
Footsteps, they were loud and close. The door creeks open and feet step into the room. You hold your breath, hoping they don't find you. "Alright, you might as well show yourself." A gruff, feminine voice breaks the silence. You watch as her feet move around the room, as she opens the closet and bathroom. "I checked every other room, so I know you're in here."
Holding your breath for this long is causing you to suffocate. The female in the room stops in front of the bed. You silently panic as she begins to kneel down. You have to remove your hand allowing air to come in. But it must've been too loud, because a lupine woman wearing an eye patch leans down. "Gotcha~!"
You push away until your back is against the wall. She sighs and starts to crawl after, "Making me crawl after you too? You're playing hard to get." She is so close to your face that you can feel her breath. As she grabs onto your arm, you try to kick her away. "So feisty!" The kicks don't even faze her as she pulls you out from under the bed.
You scramble to your feet in an attempt to get away. Bolting through the unlocked door, you run down the hall. You can hear her footsteps behind you, she is gaining on you. A fearful yelp escapes you as you try to run faster.
A large weight suddenly is on top of you causing you to crash to the ground. Turning you so you're facing her, she glares at you. If weren't worried for your life before, you sure as hell were now! "God, you made this so difficult." She says in a more friendly tone, "I just wanted to say hello, but turned on the mining laser and shot at me!" The lupine sighs and takes off the eye patch.
You begin to feel nostalgia. Looking at the lupine woman's face, it clicks in your head. "W-Wolf? Wolf O'Donnell?" The years in academy you spent together, it all comes back in one giant wave. It was the first day, orientation had ended and you went to your new dorm. When you opened the door, you were greeted by a lupine girl. She was wearing a very punk outfit and took off her headphones, turning towards you when you entered.
She stood up and walked over to you. You decided it would be a good time for introductions, "Hi, I'm (Name). I'm your roommate." You held out your hand which she shook.
"I'm Wolf, nice to meet you." At the time her voice was less gruff and a little higher pitched. Her-at the time-two crimson eyes looked deeply into yours as if she was learning every secret you held. You were stunned and unable to speak for a little while. You felt heat rushing to your face. The way she looked at you made your heart flutter, she was pretty cute after all.
The two of you became really close for a long time, but she started acting off during the last year of the academy for the two of you. She was cold and unforgiving which was completely different from her normal self. Admittedly, she had beaten you a few times, but she always was so apologetic and sorry afterward. She would sob apologies for the rest of the day, and she would always patch you up. People sometimes asked about your wounds but you just told them you fell down the stairs, it was infrequent enough for the lie to work.
One night, you felt if you didn't confess how you felt for her she might get worse. Maybe if you gave her a reason to better herself, she would. As you walked in that night from late classes, a note sat on your bed. Picking and up reading it, you were quite shocked. 'Dear (Name), I'm so sorry for doing this to you. By the time you read this, I will be long gone. I have to go for a reason right now, but I will see you again someday. I hope I can convince you to forgive me when we meet again. Love, Wuffy.'
Seeing what it entailed left you in shock. She had signed with 'love' and her nickname between the two of you 'Wuffy'. You looked around at first, trying to figure out if this was a joke of some sort. But when no one jumped out or walked into the room, it hit you like a bunch of bricks. You collapsed onto the floor, bawling your eyes out. You clutched the note and held it against your chest. It was the last physical thing you had of your friend, at least you still had the photos. But whenever you looked at pictures of the two of you getting coffee or going somewhere, a large sense of sorrow came over you. That last year of academy was the hardest, people either talked about Wolf like she was a serial killer or looked at you like you had helped with her crimes.
Snapping back to reality, you slap her. Not hard, but enough to get the message across. Tears started to roll down your face, "You left me. You left me alone, knowing you were my only and closest friend!" Suddenly gaining strength, you shove her off and swap places. As you straddled her, she did not protest or fight you off. "I... I loved you! Why? Why did you leave?!"
A look of guilt coats her face, "I had some problems to take care of. My father wanted me back home for an emergency." Now you were angrier, she had just lied to your face.
"We both know that's bull! You had told me thousands of times how much you hated your father and how much he hated you!" Now you glared deeper into those beautiful crimson eyes, "Please, just tell me the truth."
She gulped and look away. The two of you stayed that way for a long moment, "I had gotten into some gang crap. They said they were going to kill me and the people I cared about. I-I didn't want you to get hurt! But I guess I hurt you anyway..." You released the pressure you put on her stomach.
The two of you stand up, but she wastes no time. She grabs the collar of your shirt and pulls your face to her level, she was tall, but you were slightly taller. She stares into your peepers before crashing her lips onto yours. The kiss is quick yet passionate. Wolf puts her hands on your cheeks, wiping your tears with her thumb. She looks at you apologetically. "I forgive you," you say, stroking her ears gently.
The two of you are sitting by the window in your room. "So," you say sparking conversation, "what have you been doing for the last several years?" She looks at you, then the window, then back to you.
"I was running the space pirate group, Starwolf. I'm quite sure you've heard of it." You mentally cuss at yourself for not putting two and two together before now. She continues, "I got sick of the hatred I was continually given. So, I helped out the Cornerian army during a battle and they started to warm up to me. They eventually started 'accidentally' telling me where nearby battles were. My team learned what I was doing and removed me as the leader, and by that I mean they tried to kill me and I fled for my life. That's how Starpanther came to be."
You hold the lupine in your embrace, "Oh c' mere, Wuffy." You pat her on the back and kiss her on the cheek. "Y'know, I've been pretty lonely for a while now. It would be nice to have someone else helping and being around. Not to mention, I'm sure you could give some low-life raiders a good kick in the rear."
She looks at me while smiling, "Sure thing. If you don't mind, I'd love to help you out." Now Wolf stands up, "Say, why don't we get a bite? I know a pretty good place on Papetoon." You nod and stand up as well. She heads into the one ship docking bay, to get into her Wolfen, while you head to the bridge and set off for a good time.
