{previously from the last chapter...}
"A cute little squid that was glowing went out of it's non-existent corpse and it was crying. Alex seems to not care because the glowing squid went back to it's spawn and it just, charged back into the battlefield...."
Okay, so first of all, I'm slightly traumatized by the scene I am watching. The colors splashing everywhere and the Inklings bursting from their enemy's wrath is basically like a slight eyesore for me.
But at the same time, I was starting to have this heavy feeling in my chest. It just feels like... I don't really belong here. They were Inklings, I am a human. They are unique in a way that I'm not. Despite the fact that they're doing a "war", they always seem to look so... happy. All of those cheers, their smiles on their faces, it makes me heavily reminisce the days when I was younger, playing with my friends with water guns, throwing at each other mud, before our parents would scold us for our clothes being soiled.
I noticed that one of the enemy Inklings requested backup, and when the backup came, he crashed behind the girl, seemingly bending into weird positions a normal human would do when they fall from a high height and die. He screamed in surprise or pain and the Inkling who requested the backup, too, screamed. They both got killed by Alex's comrade after their 2 second long screaming session.
And I haven't noticed the timer saying that there's only 1 minute left.
Colorful globs of ink dashed through the air like volleyballs being spiked from both of the enemy teams.
The power duo from Alex's team is at the center of the map, flicking off the last bits of enemy ink with pride (and killing enemy inklings along the way). Alex was at the corner of the map, covering enemy ink with his own, until an enemy inkling surprised attacked Alex. It was the small, bob-haired inkling, wielding the paint-roller thrice her size with all her might, then swung it down with a big splash. Alex slightly dodge-rolled too late, as he was hit (but not enough to die lmao). He seemed realized his mistake, as he was being cornered. The small inkling lifted her weapon up in the air, poised to kill Alex right there-
Bam! A sniper shot hit the small inkling's head, bursting her into ink.
But it was too late, Alex already poofed into whatever-state-he's-in (rip lol).
The clock was counting down to 10 as both of the teams went into a paint and splattin' spree.
The teams rushed to ink every last bit of the amusement park, until a loud whistle rang through, signaling the end of the match. Everyone held their hands up, dropping their weapons on the ground, as if surrendering to the greater enemy. Everyone looked peaceful after that stressful battle, as if it was all just a fun game of paintball that's not free-for-all.
"It's time to decide who's the winning team!" the announcer spoke through invisible megaphone. Everyone was giddy and excited to see who won.
I heard a loud whooshing sound coming from above, as I looked up from the bleachers, a massive tv screen glided out of nowhere and flew perfectly still above the amusement park. It flickered to life, showing on what seems to be a vial with no opening. On one side, a tiny splotchy bar of blue, on the other, is another splotchy bar but orange. The bars didn't seem to move, as if waiting for a signal to end the battle once and for all.
A faint hissing sound came from the top of the screen and out there emerged a cat. An obese one, I must say. Even though the tv screen is far away, i can still make out the markings and the facial features of it. It looked, familiar? Where have I seen this feline before? I saw another figure coming out of the screen, hardly visible at all. 'Wow that thing is so tiny', I said to myself as I squint my eyes as I humanely could. It was another cat, but 3 times smaller than the bigger cat, both have identical patterns, looking like theyre wearing brown overalls, a single big dot on a side of their faces, and a tail shaped like an arrow.
The bigger cat raised a blue flag, whilst the tinier one held up an orange one in it's paws. They started doing a little shake as the colors on both ends of the bar rise. I'm starting to question if this is even normal in this world, poor cats, they have to do free labor.
As the colors stopped halfway from meeting each other in the middle, both of the cats stopped dancing, as if to build anticipation on who exactly won. All of the contestants (including Alex) seem to hold their breaths, waiting to see if their team would gain another win. The bigger cat raised the blue flag u high, signaling a big win for Alex's team. The orange flag holding kitten then proceeded to fall to it's back, exaggerating that the opponent lost (L)
The blue team wooped and cheered, then proceeds to pose and fling their weapons into the air. "That's uh, one way to get yourself hurt, where are their parents anyways?' I said to myself as I watched both teams congratulate each other.
They started packing their things as the employees in Wahoo World just, leave the colored battle like it is. Now I'm really starting to reconsider about this since they probably don' t even care about the ink leaving stains behind-
And then, right before my eyes, the ink started to magically dissipate into thin air, leaving nothing behind. I take my words back.
Looks like I need to do more than blending in.
Author's note.
Hey guys, broken_wan here.
WOW CANT BELIEVE THIS IS ACTUALLY THE LONGEST CHAPTER IN THE BOOK LMAOAOAO
Anyways.
Thank you all for somehow sticking with this book for so long, hoping for another update. Sadly, as much as I want to, I just don't really feel like doing more chapters anymore. Yes, I've actually went back into the Splatoon fandom bc of Splatoon 3 (obviously)I don't really feel the same motivation as I used to have back when I first made the book. I appreciate each and evrey single one of you that have egged me on, to finish this story that I have yet to close.
But alas, all good things must come to an end.
Thank you all for almost 30k reads, I honestly didn't think I would reach this far. Thank you all for the votes and comments, and thank you all, for making memorable moments with me as I am going to get milk.
That's all, I guess. It is only a farewell for now.
Apuu.
