Hey, guys! Sorry I was gone for too long, I was busy with other stuff that I have forgotten to update this story! So, to make up for that (and the timing for Mother's Day), I had written a 13 k reads special! 13 thousand reads?? It means a lot to me ^^! Thanks for all the support!
Anyhoo, onto to the special!
"(Y/N)'s growing too fast, you know? The last time I saw her was when she was still 7 years old!" My friend chuckled, looking at (Y/N) playing with Helix and my friend's son, Walter, shooting at each other with water guns. I sigh, knowing it was true. She really is growing too fast, too fast for my old age to stumble at her speed. "Ah, yes, that's true. But after all, us mothers have to take care of our children, even if it means putting our future at their shoulders," I sighed again. My friend's atmosphere suddenly went gloomy, then looked at me, as if I had said something that had offended her. "Are you really sure you're going to send (Y/N) away?" she asked. "I must do what I have to do, though." I said, slightly hanging off from her question. She put a hand on my shoulder as if physically telling me that she supports me in every decision, but she has doubts on this one.
As the kids' laughter (and the occasional mild cursing of Helix) went on, me and my friend had this slightly uncomfortable silence hanging above our heads like anvils about to snap from their ropes to make a death sentence (I think?).
It only took a few minutes before we talked again. As the sun began to set, and the sky has melted from Alice blue to cotton candy pink-purple color. My friend bid me farewell as she tried to pry her son off my fence gate, crying and arguing that it is not fair. "You can come back tomorrow and play with us, Walter!" (Y/N) shouted at Walter as she waved goodbye to her friend. As I usher them both inside, all the while scolding Helix for his dirty white shirt, I looked up at the sky, noticing big, dark clouds above. I knew that there will be no tomorrow. No tomorrow to play with friends, it's the end of humanity.
I quickly snapped those grim thoughts away, thinking that it's better to spend some last moments with my children.*insert time-skip message here lmfao*
I've started to notice that (Y/N) seems odd tonight. She kept on rushing upstairs, then peeking from the second floor, as if there were things she's seeing that's not supposed to be there. I asked Helix what was going on with her, he shrugged, not knowing what she is doing, either.
*Another time-skip has joined the chat.*
(Y/N)'s p.o.v.
"Come down, kids! Dinner's ready!" Mom skree'd from downstairs. I felt my heart go ba-dubstep beat. I was making a Mother's Day card for her, and I'm not really sure if she's going to like it. She seems so stressed and depressed these days, so I thought making something nice for her this day will be a good treat to her everyday stressful cycle of misery. My legs feel more and more like jelly as I went downstairs, barely hanging on to the rails. As I took my seat, Mom seems to notice that's something is off about me (because she always have a stare for everything), but she looked like she uh, ignored? Or something? As Felix sat down beside me, I noticed that one chair was unoccupied. "Mom, where's dad?" I asked, she looked up at me then frowned. "He's not coming home tonight, dear. He's going to stay at the lab for now, since the rain seems to be heavier tonight." She answered, clearly listening to the raindrops and patters outside.
Silence ticked by like a timer, and before I knew it, we had already finished. 'Man, mom's cooking sure does fill you up even though you feel like you didn't even touch the food,' I thought to my self.I saw my mom rinsing off the last foams off the plate, then set it aside in a dish dryer. 'Maybe, later, when she is not busy,' I thought to myself again.
*How many times do I have to add timeskips like these?*
It's already been an hour and my mom is still b u s y . She's already cleaning the house. God. Even though it's Mother's Day, I think the best time to hand this over to mom is tomorrow. Probably.
Fin. *evil potato noises*
Bonus Author's Note:
Dear readers, thank you all for making this book hit 13k reads! I didn't even expect so many readers interested in this story! This book was supposed to be a joke, but eh, who cares now lmao--
Anyhoo, I would like to give special thanks to my parents, especially my mom, for egging me on to go and continue the story. I would like to go and give thanks to my Discord friends for giving me advice and all, my friends irl for helping me, and to you, my fellow reader, who somehow managed to stumble upon this about-to-be-abandoned-story-but-I-can't-at-the-same-time crap. Thank you all, ily.
