Time passes slowly when you're young, it's kind of like how a fly sees a human move in constant slow motion. The point being, as a five year old, every goddamn thing that happens to you feels like a life time.
You appreciate the slow and lazy feel of life. Even if You only do because you know someday that will have to change.
Someday, probably very soon, you will develop your quirk, and life will only get more complicated from then. Someday, you'll reach that age, and life will start speeding up, coming at you like rapid fire bullets. One thing after another, and then another, and another.
That's a fucking terrifying realization for a five year old.
You stare up at a blinding sun as you lie with your back flat on the park's playground equipment. There's a boy lying next to you, oh, how you adored him. In your five years of existence, he's got to be the best thing that ever happened to you.He sits up slowy and you gaze at his back, waiting for him to speak. Though, you already know what he's going to say.
"(Y/n), do you wanna play heros with me?"
He twists his body to look at you and in turn, you look up at him. The two of you... consider eachother for a fleeting moment. You laugh, because of course you'll play heros with him. Everyday he asks, and everyday you say yes.
His face is obscured by streaks of sun rays, you struggle to make out his features through squinted eyes, but you know he's still looking at you, and you know he's probably got that dopey lopsided smile plastered onto his face.
Everyday you say yes, he knows today is no different. Yet he still asks, fearful that one day you might say no.
You close your eyes and bask in the stillness of the moment. The only thing that can be heard is the low, static-like sound of the wind blowing in your ear. Other than that, it's as if the entire world has gone silent.
"(Y/n)! This time you can be All Might!"
You reluctantly open your eyes. The sun is still bright and blinding, and your vision is bleary. You smile in a way that reaches your eyes, you feel complete, genuine happiness, it's almost like its coursing through your veins.
You'll miss that.
Someday, life will start happening really, really fast.
But right now
there's him
And there's you
Life is slow, and lazy, with endless potential.
And that's enough.
"Thanks, _____."

You feel your heart rate rapidly increase, then your arm twitches, jolting you awake. You slowly lift your head, it feels like a ton of bricks. Your eyes feel like lead and you think about how euphoric it would feel to just close them again and go back to sleep.
