Teaser: Drive
“Mom, I’m leaving for school!” I called out as I put on my beat up converse sneakers and walked out the door.
My blue pick-up truck was parked out front as always and I jumped in the driver’s seat, tossing my bag in the seat over. I was already late for school so I threw my truck into drive and took off down the road.
“Damn it, Dani,” I cursed myself for forgetting to put it in 4 wheel drive. The road was slick from the snow the night before. Lucky me I only lived about 15 minutes away from the school.
I went over the mental checklist in my head:
Books. Check.
Sweatshirt. Check.
Phone. Check.
IPod. Check.
I think I have everything. I was turning onto the main road when I felt a knife at my neck.
“Drive.”
