Kitara Takeda

Kiba and I make it to the training ground half an hour later than we were supposed to, partially because I'd made him stop and buy me breakfast and coffee to replace what he had stolen. He refused at first but I reminded him that it would be something a good boyfriend would do. I happily munch on the slice of toast hanging from my mouth as we approach the rest of our team. An idea comes to mind to mess with him further for taking my food and quickly link our arms and rest my head against his upper arm.

"What the hell are you doing?" He asks as he tries to flinch away.

"Aw, don't be like that Ki-kun." I croon, rubbing my cheek against him while suppressing my laughter.

"You're insufferable." He grumbles under his breath before Kurenai-sensei begins to scold us for being late.

"Sorry Kurenai-sensei, I would have been on time but my breakfast magically disappeared and Kiba was nice enough to replace it for me."

I pull away from him and snicker quietly at the startled expressions from our other teammates.

Our training today turns out to be sparring each other to test our skills. Should be simple enough. Kurenai sets us up in pairs, Kiba with Shino, Hinata with me, then allows us to begin. Hinata and I exchange bows once my hair is tied back out of my face and I dodge her punch as soon as we straighten. We are pretty evenly matched by strength, but her Byakugan makes her more formidable and my speed makes it harder for her. I might be able to win if she doesn't lay a hit on me and I tire her out. Hinata and I dance around the clearing, countering each blow we try to land. I can hear the boys fighting nearby and from the sounds of it, Shino is winning. I smirk, my motivation increasing as I think of all of the bragging I can do if I win and Kiba loses. If he wins against Shino though, I'll be paired against him for the next round and I can beat him and brag even more.

"You better win Kiba!" I call out before ducking Hinata's fist and throwing myself at her torso.

We hit the ground in a tangle of limbs and I pin her down despite her thrashing beneath me and slip a kunai out of my jacket to hold against her throat. Kurenai calls me the winner, so I release Hinata with a small smile and help her to her feet. I apologize if I hurt her but she reassures me that she is fine and was happy that I did well. Hinata and I settle down on the grass and watch our teammates continue to fight. I notice Kiba is fighting harder than he did when we began, bringing a small smile to my face.

"Kitara-chan, a-are you and Kiba, uh- dating?" Hinata asks quietly as she absently tears a piece of grass.

My first instinct is to say of course not and gag, but I quickly remember our bet and nod.

"Yes, it is a recent thing though."

"That's surprising. I thought you and Kiba hated each other."

"I guess it just brought us closer." I shrug, unsure how to talk about it.

"Hinata, Shino, you two go together. Kitara, Kiba, you're up." Our sensei calls out, saving me from further conversation.

I wish Hinata luck as we get to our feet and make our way over to our new targets. I offer a sickly sweet smile up at Kiba as I come to stop a few feet away. My gaze drifts to Akamaru who yips happily at me, then wanders off to lay down in a sunny spot out of the way. I snicker as Kiba calls him a traitor for leaving him behind.

"You should know by now, Akamaru likes me more than you. He'd never help you fight me."

"You're ruining my partner." He grumbles before telling me to move first.

I sigh and pull the kunai from my jacket pocket again before rushing toward him. As he moves to punch me, I drop down and sweep his feet. When I get up, ready to pin him down under my boot, he latches onto my ankle and knocks me down onto him. My eyes widen as Kiba flips us over and pins my hands above my head with one hand. This position has us very close, his breath tickling my face.

"Oh Kiba-kun, how forward." I purr as I lean up toward him.

He releases me suddenly and I use the momentary advantage to flip us over again and I pin the kunai against his throat.

"Do you give up?" I ask.

"That was a dirty trick!" He scowls as he pushes me off him.

"It's only as dirty as you want it to be, Darling."

An hour later, Kiba and I fall to the ground to catch our breath as Kurenai-sensei calls our match a draw. I don't know how we managed to do that, as I stopped toying with him after five minutes and I could tell after a while he stopped holding back. If Akamaru had joined in, I most definitely would have lost. Kurenai-sensei thanks us all for our hard work today, then dismisses us for a two day break. There are no complaints from the group as she leaves. I sit up once my breathing returns to normal and brush the dust off my jacket.

"Good job today, Kitara-chan!" Hinata smiles at me as she and Shino come to stand in front of us.

"What about me?" Kiba grumbles as he sits up as well.

"Oh, you too."

"Gee, thanks."

"So you two are dating?"

I lift my gaze to Shino whose mouth is pressed into a thin line. I can't tell what his eyes look like since they're hidden behind his dark glasses but I nod my head. He doesn't say anything further and I watch curiously as he walks off. Hinata waves goodbye and follows after him.

I get to my feet and extend a hand toward Kiba. He promptly ignores it and stands on his own while calling for Akamaru. As we turn to head back into the village, I tell him that he did good during our fight. He thanks me but doesn't offer a compliment in return and I roll my eyes with a sigh.

"You're supposed to compliment me too."

"Why would I do that?"

"Fine. Make me hate you more, it'll only help me win the bet faster. I'll be the best girlfriend ever and you'll be the jerky boyfriend until you fall for me." I smirk as his expression falls.

"You wish."

"So, dear boyfriend, what are the plans for our days off?"
