“Em, what are you doing here?” I stared at my friend Whinnie. Her big brown eyes were full of concern. She grabbed my arm and pulled me inside. “It’s cold out there what the hell is going on!” I sat down on the couch and sighed.
“I don’t know what to do with myself Whin.” My eyes began to water and my lip quivered.
“You need to talk to him, I don’t care how much you don’t want to see him, he’s the only thing that can fix you.. What happened to your arm?!” her jaw dropped as she saw the blood leaking out of my burn wounds. I wiped it off and crossed my arms.
“nothing.” I whispered. She got up and shuffled into the kitchen.
“You can stay here if you want, I’ll call your dad.” She peeked out her head and gave me a willing smile. “It won’t be a problem, I can tell your hurting.” She disappeared again.
I knew I could always count on this girl. She has been there for me through thick and thin. She’s held my hand when I was scared and wiped my tears when I was sad. This was the girl that almost every dark secret and still accepts me for who I am.
She walked back out holding two mugs, and handed one to me with a smirk on her face. “Drink up.”
I put my lips to the edge of the glass. I could smell the vodka, mixed in with the hot chocolate. Knowingly I took a huge drink, and then another. She knew how I liked my drinks; she knew how to solve my problems.
“Tell me what happened Em. “She put her feet up, comfying herself for the long story about to come.
I took another drink and looked at her. “It’s Chris and his stupid fucking games.” She nodded, assuring me I could keep going. “He ended it, for good. He told me, wait another two years, and I will be here. I promise ‘baby’.” I chuckled and took another sip. “I knew this was going to happen, but I never knew I loved him this much. Whin.. I miss him, I miss his smile, and his laugh, I miss when he tucked the hair behind my ear while we were kissing. His smell, I miss the hugs and his cute little jokes. I miss smiling.” I chugged the rest of my spiked coco and Whinnie traded the rest of hers for my empty glass. The familiar feel of tingling went through my body.
She took a deep breath. “I always had that bad feeling about him. I knew he would break you into a million pieces.”
I looked up. “He’s the only one that can pick the pieces back up.”
She shook her head and got up, walking to her bedroom this time.
“What are you doing?” I yelled after her, downing the rest of my drink.
I got up and stumbled to her room where she tossed me a hoodie and some jeans. “let’s go.” My thoughts at this point were slurred, I didn’t know what to think. I followed her out the door, still not wearing shoes. “wheres weee going?” I hobbled down the street with her.
“To solve your problems.” She grabbed my hand and nudged me forward. The leaves on the trees were mesmerizing, the sound of dogs barking were evolving around my head, echoing. The ground had turned to mush. The sky was spinning and I was in the middle of the earth, unmoved, but still walking.
“how’s this hapenin’? I looked at her and giggled. Her face had been transformed into a blotch of swirls. She threw me on her back. My vision began to get darker and fuzzier. Everything went black
I awoke on a dark brown couch. It seemed familiar in all to many ways. I turned my head, looking at the white ceiling and the beige walls. There was a dog lying next to me, Sarah, her name was. I stared through the entry to the kitchen, I could see him. His head was in his hands and he was crying, I could see the salt watered tears dropping from his face, and splattering onto the table. Why was I here? I coughed a few times to let him know I was awake. He stood up and rushed over to where I lay, grabbing my hand.
“who did this to you.” He sighed. His eyes strayed from mine. He knew if we were to cross paths, he would immediately fall apart.
I opened my mouth but nothing came out. I was in shock, his eyes pulled me in to an unconscious state. They were deep dark green with pinches of yellow and blue. They reminded me of the lake I went to when I was a child. They were amazing, breathtaking.
His head leaned down, closer to mine. At this point I could feel his warm breath against mine. I could feel the heat flowing out of his body, beginning to warm me. I blinked a few times to make sure I wasn’t dreaming. He was really here. I was about to fall in love all over again. A smile began to form on his face as he went in for a kiss. The kiss.
His lips pressed against mine, instant butterflies blossomed in my stomach flying in all different directions. Tingles shot from my face down to my toes and back up again, I could hear the birds outside, over the fireworks in my head. His arm wrapped around me as he pulled me in closer. His sweet breath mixed with mine to make a miraculous taste that filled my mouth. His tongue explored mine, creating magic. He pushed his body against mine, illuminating the lust. I pulled away and stared into his eyes. He looked back, sincerely. I longed for this moment, for this very kiss.
