The words brushed off his lips into the warm sweet air. His hand caressed my side while the other was keeping my head stable. I was still weak, weak enough to fall for this game once again. A small smile blossomed on his face as he brushed his lips down my neck, biting me, creating a newly found mark. The feel, the numbness was all too familiar. His breath lingered around my nose, dancing in mysterious, hypnotical ways. My heart started racing in my chest, beating faster than a hummingbird in flight. The pounding became audible as my breathing became shorter, collapsing into shallow unrelated breaths. His deep green eyes moved upwards towards mine. I missed the pattern that belonged to them, the uncorrelated blue specks, paired with the yellow and the green creating a symphony of colors. “Are you alright?” the faint voice of his echoed throughout the living room.
I struggled to lift my head without his help. “I, I need to sit up.” My voice was harsh and raspy. He moved his hand down my back, and pushed me up.
“Anything else my love?” he asked, smirking at me. I switched my gaze to the floor. “you know Em, your smile is amazing. I think about it every night. I think about you, and me. I-“ the sound of my phone cut him off. My dad was calling. I answered.
“hello?”
“hey were you at?”
I looked at Chris. “I’m with Whinnie, I was taking a nap.” I cut my sentence short.
My dad was always the kind of guy who was like a five year old, trapped in a 50 year old body. He was funny, but could be a jerk at any time.
“Okie dokie, I want you home in an hour Morg.” He hung the phone up, and so did I.
Chris got up and ran up the stairs, missing about four steps. The ceiling creaked above me, I could tell he was in his room. Sarah trotted up to me and rubbed her nose on my leg. “hi girl.” I scratched behind her ears and pet her back. She was a boxer German mix with gorgeous brown fur with white specks.
Chris began rushing down the stairs, holding a sweater and a pair of shoes.
Here, he handed me the things. “Put them on, they’ll help.” His smile was still withholding on his face. “I’ll give you a ride.” I followed him out to his truck and got inside. The scent of coconuts and crisp air overwhelmed my nose.
“its not safe.” I looked at him, trying to show him I was concerned. “You’re nineteen, I’m fourteen.” It was illegal for us to be together, and it would be for the next two years. We turned onto a back dirt road.
“Sam got me into trouble.” We slowed down to about 20 mph. “she’s telling everybody we had sex.”
“What a fucking whore. The Sam that’s in the eighth grade?!” this girl really takes after her older sister, she got pregnant at the age of 15.
He nodded his head. “yeah.. I have court in three weeks.”
I didn’t know how to respond, whether to be angry at him or her.
“can I ask you something?” he asked, looking at me then back to the road. I Sighed. “Of course.”
He paused for a moment, slowly creeping down the dirt road, heading back into the woods. “What happened to you and marc?” I noticed how his voice got harsh when he said his name. Marc was my ex-boyfriend. We had dated for a year and a half, and I was the happiest I had ever been. He was seventeen at the time, and I was fourteen.
“um, he just.. left.” I assured him.. “its over now.”
“what about Jordan.” He asked again.
I paused for a moment.. I missed Jordan with almost everything I had. “He, uh, it just didn’t work out.”
“What about Scott?” another question came from his mouth.
“Me and Scott never dated, we just. We just cuddled and talked. I’m still a virgin Chris.”
His eyes got wider and he slowed down a bit, he obviously wasn’t paying attention to the road, or his driving. “I know.”
The truck got quite. You could hear the birds chirping outside over the sound of the engine. The water flowed next to us in a small lake. ‘Sand bay’ it was called. It splashed against the rocks on the shore. Two swans sat in the middle by a sand bar, eloping necks with one another, and Colliding two worlds into one.
“do you still love them?” he looked at me again.
I didn’t know how to respond. I still loved every single one of them, but not as much as the guy I was sitting next to at this very moment. My entire heart belonged to this man. he looked at me again searching for an answer.
“can you pull over?” I gasped.
The truck rolled to a stop and I flung the door open., jumping out. I landed on my knees, and started to vomit. The searing sensation scorched up my throat and into my mouth. My eyes started watering as blood began to appear in my puke. After about three minutes of throwing up, I was hacking out 97% blood. My heart was pounding, my face was beat red. I began dry heaving; I didn’t have anything else in my body to puke up anymore.
I lifted myself back up from the ground and wiped my mouth. My legs were shaking, I got back into the truck. Chris looked at me and reached into the back of his truck, pulling out a bottle of water and handing it to me.
“thanks Chris.”
He smiled and put his hand on my back.
“will you scratch my back?” I looked at him willingly with my big puppy dog eyes and flashed him a cheesy smile.
he giggled and began scratching softly. Oh man I loved that feeling more than anything in the world.
“in return for a back rub.” He winked at me and smiled. I am the goddess at giving back rubs, they were very scarce, but oh so powerfull.
"i love you Chris." i looked at him again with my big puppy dog eyes.
"will you be world again Em?" he smiled back at me and continued scratching.
