Chapter 2 BOTWC

Swiping the bow back onto her shoulder along with the arrow case she began running back through the forest to her home, the den. She has been training all mourning with Bongi, she hasn't seen Briggs, Kay, Ebena, or even Obi all day. She was a little exhausted but nothing she hasn't been through before, she can fight the exhaustion. As the two were running back to the den, a squirrel scampered by between Bongi's feet
Stupid Squirrel, Ka'Tana thought to herself. She gave Bongi a pleading look before reaching for her bow.
He looked at her with a hard face, about to say no until she gave her most famous puppy dog face, "please.."
Suddenly his face softened up and he shook his head
Yessss, she internally cheered.
"Fine, this one last practice then we have to go back to the den," he huffed. She knows he can never turn down her puppy dog face, no one can.
As soon as his reply was said her head whipped towards the squirrel who was watching them as it was attached to the tree. It was kinda cute while its tail twitched rapidly towards the two. Ka'Tana quickly grabbed her bow, the red leather ribbon swayed in the wind. She reached for an arrow and placed it on the bow. Aiming it slowly she took a deep breath then released the arrow. It flew towards the squirrel and missed by a centimeter, only managing to grab one tail fur. It quickly ran up the tree to hide in its wooden home. Ka'Tana dropped to the ground and covered her eyes, "I'm not going to make it again! I'll have to wait another four years, Bongi!"
Bongi shook his head then padded up to her, licking her face. "Oh my sweet Ka'Tana, squirrels are always the hardest to catch, even I miss with my teeth and I'm a pretty old dog, I've been training since I was born."
She looked up to him, wiping a tear from her eye. She nodded and gave a faint smile of gratitude. Ka'Tana pushed herself up and took a sniffle before heading back to the den.

"You're late," Briggs growled sternly, but not aggressively. His large appearance made her body drop to the ground in fear though she knew he wouldn't hurt her fragile body.
"I'm sorry," she mumbled.
"Please, up, this is your ceremony. Are you ready?"
She got up and stood strait, looking straight into his eyes. "I'm ready."
She wanted to smile, but you cannot smile in a ceremony. Bongi said that it looks as if you are baring you teeth, which means you want to challenge the leader, and the leader will never turn down his dominance whether you meant it or not. With her straight face she attempted to smile with her eyes at her family who were watching her. Kay, Ebena, and Bongi. They all stood wagging their tails. She looked to the leader who had raised his head before saying the traditional words, "Ka'Tana, it is your time to grow like a lily in the spring time, and like a elk heard in the fall. But with all growth there are responsibilities. Elks must protect the young in order to grow any further, and a lily must be given sunlight and water from the Mayuna to grow. You must promise to hold up your end of the responsibilities to grow. Do you accept these terms?"

Mayuna is like a heaven for animals, well it's the same place but the wolves believe that the God is a lion. The king of the jungle and all.

Ka'Tana restrained her excited smile. All of her mixed feelings have now vanished. "I do."
"You have accepted our terms, and in return you will have your chance to prove who you are, you are our family. Tomorrow, we begin. Tonight, we will sleep. We will sleep with contentment and joy, because the next day will be the day we will begin the hunt," Briggs looked down at me with a stone cold hard face, but that face was not anger it was like that look your dad always gave you when he felt proud but didn't want to tell you. Though Briggs wasn't my father and never will be. She nodded and turned around, still restraining her smile. Bongi trotted over to her and nudged her. "You can smile now. You are terrible at hiding your excitement," he teased. Suddenly Ka'Tana's grin bursted out, finally free. "I finally get my redo! Finally finally finally!" She squealed with excitement. Being part of the pack was a big day for a pup because then you can go anywhere at anytime and have jobs and travel and you arnt called little whiney pup! It's like a step up in freedom. She took out her bow and an arrow and shot it straight into the sky, eyeing it, she maneuvered a couple inches and as the arrow came flying down she caught it strait on the shaft then raised it up high above her head.
"Woohoo!" Kay yelped happily at Ka'tana. "You're master! You are totally catching this moose! You won't even need our help."
"If I want to live I will. It will take a couple of arrows to shoot down those things," Ka'Tana replied seriously.
"You sound nervous. Are you nervous?"
"I am... A little.. I mean I know I will pass but what if I miss and hit--" Ka'Tana stopped before she went any further.
"Look.. You've been using that arrow for years--" Kay was cut off by Ka'Tana.
"Exactly why I should be able to hunt a simple squirrel but even those I can't get!"
"You know they are fast.. I think you just need to be a little more confident while hunting. It's not the bow, it's not your ability, it's your mind. I know it."
"That makes no sense, Kay."
"Bongi adopting a human child makes no sense."
"Haha! Okay you're right.. I'll try it."
"Now let's get to the den and sleep, you've got a big day tomorrow!" Kay giggled as she wondered off into the den, Ka'Tana grabbed her friends tail and let it lead her into the Den, she gave a big yawn before she fell down onto Kay and Ebena. They were use to this so they didn't even flinch when she fell down on top of them. She grabbed their fur clumps and rubbed her face into their warm furry backs. The body heat that radiated off of them gave her so much comfort that she didn't even require a blanket. Then she fell asleep.
