Once a woman
In glory reigned
A staff of wealth stood by her left
And to her right the rod of wisdom dwelled
This feminine leader domainedAcknowledged amongst others
Upheld by her name
Flawless beauty and gracious techniques
Kept the devoures away
This feminine leader domainedSuddenly, illness
Little by little her favor delayed
From poisions her bossom of "friends"
So willingly gave
She sought to keep the fouler awayToo strong and sophisticated they had become
Now accustomed to her simple ways
They poked and stabbed
Her skin was marred
Her blood was spread, she fell. For many years, on the ground she remained
Cast to lie at the feet of dogs
And shiver in cold sweat
Hope lost, beauty gone
A downcast shadow
Had she become. She cried, she wailed
Seeking for help of any kind
Cause it seemed to be the end
But then a light breaks forth from above
She stretches her hand, she gets upFollowing the light beyond the sky
Regaining strength, beauty restored
She rises up and searches for her throne
Wisdom and wealth beckon to her call
She smiles and with a heavy voice she says"Africa is restored!"
