Mikayla Laurence was born four months after her mother left her grandparents house and the city she spent all her childhood in. May twenty seventh, at three in the morning. The only family there to welcome her into the world were her mother and Uncle, Sam.
Brittney was present as well and after she watched the woman she met in the hall way of their apartment building, give birth to the most precious baby girl, she was not going anywhere. It was a fate born friendship, she said.
Britt had woken up at three in the morning to a knock at her door. She had taken to sleeping in tights and a good top, so she was ready to go when Stace knocked. She opened it to find Stacey, holding a duffle bag, dressed in a sun dress, minus a bra. Two different shoes on her feet, but her hair in a perfect high pony tail as usual, and ready to go to the hospital.
"I pissed on myself, so I'm pretty sure its time to go to the hospital, this time. " Stacey said sheepishly.
" Couldn't she have waited till the morning? " Britt grumbled, pulling on her jacket over her clothes and picking up her keys from the fruit bowl by the door.
" She decided to come into this world bright and early. " Stacey laughed before a contraction hit, cutting her off. They had only found out the sex of her baby two months ago and she had been due to deliver for two weeks now.
" You better hope this doesn't mean she'll wake you up bright and early for the rest of her dependant life. " Britt snapped.
" Hey, its not my fault she doesn't want to wait until a decent hour. Don't snap at me. "Stacey sulked.
The two walked down the stairs slowly. Pausing twice when contractions came, so Stacey didn't fall, trying to concentrate on her breathing.
" Did you call Sam? " Brittney asked, opening the back door for the pregnant mama.
" Yeah, when the contractions started three hours ago and i was sure i only had a few more hours left of pregnancy. " Stacey grinned.
" Great. Saves me having to call the douche. " Britt grumbled as she closed the door. Grateful that Stacey had another contraction so she didn't hear much.
Driving the pregnant woman to the ER, was fun. Or at least it would have been if not for the hour. Stacey growled and grumbled and then apologised to her daughter before going at it again.
Half an hour later and in the delivery room, Stacey had gone from groaning and grumbling about men having it easy and specifically calling her ex and father of her baby out on his bullshit.
The few months that Brittney had known her, Stacey hadn't uttered one bad word, regarding the father of her child, that threw her under the bus. But in the time of her labouring, leading to the birth of her child, she was not just honest with Brittney, but also real with herself, about her feelings regarding the guy. Young or not, Tom idiot, or what ever his name was, was a class A Ass.
An hour after they arrived at the hospital, Samuel came running in looking haunted, "Did she give birth yet?" he asked, looking from Brittney to Stacey.
"Not yet, "Brittney answered in between her amused chuckles. He had burst in, cutting Stacey's rant off. Samuel and Britt didnt get along because both of them thought the other not worthy of being in the birth room. Stacey thought she had rectified the solution by having both of them. But clearly not. Whatever caused their animosity towards each other, clearly wasnt completely revolved around her.. Other their importance in her and her babies life.
Samuel sighed in relief, walking over to the chair on the other side of Stacey's bed and collapsing in it. Stacey was walking around with her drip, using the pole as a walking stick, while Britt sat in one of the chairs watching her. When Samuel looked at the woman, now no longer in a panic, he notices the tears and the smile, clearly there from hard laughter.
