A month after she ended it with Eric she met Patrick Staunch. She was stocking up her kitchen on her day off.

"Hi, " he smiled at her. " Which side are the fridges? I just moved to this side of town and this place is a bit confusing. "

Stacey smiled at him," It can be. I'm going there now, ill show you. " She picked up snacks and some mixed fruits then turned her cart around.

He was a handsome man. His smile was dazzling and mischievous. His voice up beat and fun. He dressed up, yet still managed to look cool and composed instead of up tight. His sharp cheek bones and dark eyes would make any one take him seriously. But it was softened by his casual demeanor and naughty all smile.

In quite a few ways he reminded Stacey of Tim. A wealth that called for respect. It offered security but also bondage if one didn't watch the company they kept.

" Patrick, by the way. " he said, looking her body over approvingly. Yes and he had game. The type of charm that worked anywhere on almost anyone. And Stacey wasn't immune.

" Stacey, " she smiled an amused grin." Where are you from? " she asked, turning her cart around the shelf into the next isle.

" Kenetura. I was recently moved to the lawyer branch here. Bigger clients, " they stopped at the fridges and he chose a couple of energy drinks and water. She picked up a couple of boxes of milk, yoghurt and juice boxes.

" So you're a lawyer. " Stacey smiled." I wondered what called for a suit in this weather. " It was a hot winter day and the majority of people had opted for shorts and t-shirts.

" Yes, still getting my feet wet, " they stopped at the fridges and he chose a couple of energy drinks and water. She picked up a couple of boxes of milk, yoghurt and juice boxes.

" Diet? " he checked her figure out again." It pays off, "he smiled, eyes sparkling.

She laughed, " No, they're for my daughter. " she explained.

" Married? " she saw his eyes flicker to her ring finger, checking. But she had a feeling it wouldn't matter to him.

" No, single mom, "she said proudly.

" Oh Okay, " he smiled." That doesn't put a damper. " Stacey just laughed at that.

" So hot stuff. Can i have your number? " he asked holding out his phone. In that Super Market, Stacey learnt that he was twenty-six and up for partner, this year.

Being a twenty year old mother working, put her in the lines of older men and they often mistook her for the ages of the older women. She was put in their class and therefore got the attention of an all together different class of the guys she should have been dating.

" Sure, " Stacey thought. In the few minutes they had chatted, he had made her laugh.

They went on dates and he made her laugh. He was sweet, he brought her flowers when he picked her up from the Restaurant parking lot, for dates. He always had a compliment for her. Which was a vast difference from Tim. He was a gentleman and she saw it working out between them.

They went out for three weeks before he met Mikayla, having been more open than Eric. And Stacey being charmed by his up beat personality. She had been sure Mikayla would like him. He seemed to have a smile for every one.

He met them at Mac Donalds for a burger and at first he was apprehensive. Unsure of what to do with a one year old. Mikayla watched him from first pram and then her mothers lap. She was very quiet. When he smiled his unsure smile, which Stacey found cute, Mikayla would turn her face into her mothers bossom.
