The Other Anzai

"My niece? How? Since when? Where was she during the gathering?"

"Shut up I'll tell you later. What's important right now is that she and her mother are missing and I need you to get to our house and test the blood I found to see if it's hers."

"Yuuki I don't think you realise that because I'm related to those involved in this case, I legally have to stay out of it."

"Ugh! Director can he please just do this one thing for me and then I swear on my job that I'll keep him out of it?!"

We both stood and watched as the director thought through my brothers' question.

"Fine. This stays between us. If anyone finds out you're fired."

That ended that conversation. I finished my shift early by redelegating a job of mine to my dickhead partner.

"What took you so long?!"
Is what I was greeted with upon my arrival to Yuuki's.

"I had to finish my fucking shift. Just show me where the blood is so I can collect it for testing tomorrow."

"Tomorrow?!"
He'd stopped in front of me half way up the stairs and grabbed me by the collar.

"Yes! Tomorrow! What makes you think that I can do it here or in my flat?"
I yanked his hands off my shirt and pushed him back a little.

We continued up the stairs and he showed me through to the bathroom. The shower curtain had been torn down and there was dark scarlet blood splattered all over the wall; Yuuki couldn't look at it as it would trigger his devil instincts. It was a lot of blood though, I couldn't look at it for too long; my vision kept blurring which meant my eyes were changing.

I moved quickly. Collected blood off several points of the wall and left without saying goodbye.

I'd driven over to Akari's after seeing my brother. I needed to see her but I needed to go somewhere else. I'd been stuck in my flat for way too long.

I'd just lifted my hand to knock on the door when it swung open.
"Oh, uh, sorry"
I averted my gaze from the scantily clad woman in the doorway.

"No, it's my fault, sorry. Are you Reo by any chance?"
I looked up to check who I was speaking to. I didn't recognise her but she looked a little like Akari.

"Uh, yeah. I'm just gonna straight up say that I have no idea who you are."

"Haha! I'm Riki. Akari's step sister."

"Uh okay, cool. Hi,"

"Ri! Your boyfriend's here!"
Akari suddenly appeared behind the woman I now knew to be Riki.

"Hey! I didn't know you were coming! I was going to stop by your place later,"
She waved off her step sister and invited me inside.

"I had a little issue at work which made me feel a bit off. I thought seeing a ray of sun might fix that,"
She stood at the worktop in the kitchen putting the kettle on and she let me wrap my arms around her waist.

"Awh, Reo; what happened at work?"
I rested my head on her shoulder and she stroked my hair.

"I don't particularly want to talk about it. I know it's good to let out emotions but I don't wanna do that yet."
She spun around in my arms and faced me, put her hands on my shoulders.
