Brick:
"Butch, Boomer, behave!"
My brothers were currently being stupid.
But what's new?
Butch ruffled Boomer's stupid haircut. I rolled my eyes. They weren't listening. Of course.
I smacked them both in the back of the head.
"Ow!" My brothers shouted in unison.
"Listen!" I stopped them on the sidewalk and stepped in front of them.
"Before we go in, we need to talk about why we are even here." Butch made a noise in the back of his throat. Almost like a groan and a shout. Boomer made a face and put his hand on his hip, kinda tipping to one side. Oh gosh. Flashbacks of when Bubbles pretended to be Boomer when we were kids. Wanted me to shove a bug in his face.
"We know why we're here," he said. "We aren't dumb."
Maybe not Butch.
"No. Of course not. And neither are the girls. So we aught ta make the story believable."
Their eyes widened in realization.
Not of the fact that the girls are smart and that we had to become grade A actors, but that this would be the first time we've seen the girls in years.
Oh gosh.
"Ooo, I bet Blossom has...blossomed."
"I bet they all have..."
Boomer and Butch looked dazed like they were day dreaming.
Oh ew.
"Who cares!? Pay attention for one. Moment. Butch!" He sucked his teeth.
"What?"
"Why are we here?" I crossed my arms against my chest. Boomer rocked back on his feet.
"I know why..." I looked at him, head tilted.
"I bet you do," I looked to Butch, "I asked him."
He sucked his teeth again.
"Because we want a second chance, we want better lives, and to become citizens of Townsville."
I nodded. "Exactly. Lets go." We entered the school, ignoring the stares from the students.
Well, Boomer and I were ignoring them. My brother growled at a group of girls huddled in front of the lockers. They had been watching us since we entered the hall. Some swooned and some screamed bloody freaking Marry at my brother's growl.
I elbowed him, put on the best fake smile I could, and said to the girls, "ignore him, he's just messin' with you."
They calmed down, some staring up at me in adoration and...longing?
Gross.
Boomer gave the one girl still cowering, one of his heart stopping smirks.
She and the other girls swooned again. We made it to our lockers. And of course our lockers were all right next to each other. Like separating us was a bad idea.
I don't blame them for thinking that way. But it didn't matter if you separate us or keep us together. We are trouble makers, no matter how far away or close we are.
We tried our locker combinations to see if they would work.
Golden.
Well, all until we shut our lockers. My locker shut without a problem. Boomer's shut without a problem. But Butch's wouldn't stay closed. He pushed it shut, it started to open. He tried again, it slowly opened. It wouldn't lock shut.
He tried once more, and when it still didn't shut, he slammed it.
"Butch! Don't break your frickin locker! We don't have the money to pay for it!"
He just laughed.
"Funny listening to you try not to cuss." Boomer chuckled.
"Look guys, it shut."
Butch leaned against his now closed locker and his eyes turned to slits. He tapped my shoulder and pointed across the hall. That's when I saw them.
The Powerpuff Girls.
Buttercup, Bubbles.
.....And queen B herself. Blossom.Blossom must have heard us because she glanced our way then quickly moved her gaze back to her sisters. Not but a few seconds later, her very bitchy sister, Buttercup, caught Boomer's eye. Her face dropped into a scowl.
A girl with platinum hair bounced toward the dumb Powerpuff. They blabbed back and forth forth for what felt like an eternity. Then the platinum chic literally skipped away.
The sisters pointed across to us and that's when all of their eyes were turned to us.
My brothers smirked.
And it pissed them off.
In the middle of the staring contest, Ms. Keane cut our view from the girls.
This was gonna be easy...
And fun...
