She wants to get married, she wants it perfect
She wants her granddaddy preaching the service
Yeah, she wants magnolias out in the country
Not too many people, save her daddy some moneyIt was a gloomy day. I was fixing my suit in front of my mirror. I was contemplating whether I should attend this marriage or just drown myself with alcohol.
I always dread this day. It seems like my nightmare is starting to unfold.
Seriously, I should be happy. My best friend is getting married with the man she loves. This is her biggest dreams. Since we started understanding life, she had been waiting for this day. Now it's finally happening."Mark, come on we're getting late. Tina will seriously smack your head for being late on her wedding." Oh, how I wish someone would smack my head right now.
We arrived at the venue 20 minutes before the wedding starts. I separated myself from my companion and went around checking if everything is going according to what she wants. This is the least I could do; I couldn't marry her so I just helped with making her dream wedding come true.
Ooh, she got it all planned out
Yeah, I can see it all right nowI think everything's perfect here. It's a garden wedding, just as she likes. I helped her handpick all her favorite flowers. Helped her find a wedding organizer to cater everything she wanted for her wedding.
It's as good as helping her break my heart.
It's maddening how I wanted everything to be perfect and ruin everything at the same time.
I saw her soon to be husband and he waved at me with that contended smile on his face as if mocking me that he won. I breathed heavily before returning his smile and turned around to another direction.
I am hurting enough being in this event and I don't want to suffer more by faking my happiness in front of the man who will marry the person I love the most.
I'll wear my black suit, black tie, hide out in the back
I'll do a strong shot of whiskey straight out of flask
I'll try to make it through without crying so nobody sees
Yeah, she wanna get married
But she don't wanna marry meA guy announced that the wedding will be starting any minute from now and instructed everyone to gather.
I sat at the middle of the back row on the left side of the aisle; just enough for the people in front not to see me. I don't want them to see how I pathetically hold my tears as my best friend proves her love for her husband in front of us.
"Hey Mark, why are you there? Come with me. You should be in front, you dummy." This isn't good, Carlos had found me. He's my other closest friend. The idiot knows what I felt for my best friend and he's enjoying every bit of what's happening. He wouldn't want to miss what I would look like later.
"Come on, leave me alone." I laughed a little just to convince everyone here; they're literally looking at me waiting for me to move my ass and sit in front.
"Oh don't you want to see your BESTFRIEND getting married, eh?" I swear I'll smack the hell out of this idiot someday.
"I can clearly see what will happen later here, Carlos. Now move your ass and sit down, the wedding is starting."
