I take a deep breath as the city that I know dissapears under the clouds. Paris. I'm not complaining, I'm just not comfortable with the Idea.
This really isn't our fight. Its "The Calling".
A crucial stage in every asset's life, once someone has achieved a certain rank, they must complete "The Calling" a series of Soul-Crushing, Ass-kicking, Die-hard missions from which few assets survive.
Lots of assets have been known to go missing, get traumatic wounds and some even die. Isn't that motivating. I'm basically flying to my doom.
If these really are terrorists, then we are dealing with something big. I'm hoping the CIA doesn't get involved. So we can have all the fun, after all this is a classified training mission. My mind flashes back to the man who died right before my eyes, what happened to him? What killed him? Was he a suicidal bomber? That can't be, unless he took a pill, that would explain the foam coming out of his mouth....
"Alyssa?"
I turn to Marie.
"Are you freaking out too or is it just me?"
I had forgotten what its like to "freak out". I hadn't done it in a while. A leader is fearless, courageous, A Leader doesn't "freak out".
"No, I'm fine" I simply answer.
"So what do you wanna see first? The Eiffel Tower, The Arc de Triumph-"
"Need I remind you we're not here on vacation, the last thing on your mind should be sight seeing. Focus on the task at hand."
"You don't have to be so uptight" She mutters.
"Oh I'm sorry , I really am, the constant worrying about risking all of our agents to interfere with some foreign terrorists in matter of national security in order to be able to achieve a rank to truly become a asset will do that to girl." I smirk.
She rolls her eyes. I just know she is done for.
