Andrew wasn't big on fighting people, especially around the dinner hour When he knew their family was going to be home. He didn't see a lot of choices after the afternoon he had. it had taken him most of the afternoon to reprimand his deputies for neglecting to interview Howard Blesserman. Most if not all the detectives gave the same answer. If it wasn't about drugging or drinking then Howie Bleesman didn't know anything about it and it was a waste of time. When he played back the tape he made of his conversation with Howard every last one of the men hung their heads and was making a promise to themselves to always check in on Howie now and again to see if something was going on that just didn't add up quite right. The new roads had been on the town's wish list for yrs and all a sudden they were getting them. It didn't sit right then and now it made people feel worse. And now he had to to the mayor and ask about what his detectives called the Red cops and why they where in city hall and not a police squad room where they might be needed.
" Chris I have a problem and well it's from before my time. I don't want to upset your home just before you sit down to a meal. But new information came into my office about Tiffany and her disappearance. It might be a long shot but I gotta follow it up don't I Chris?" Andy asked waiting for Chris to fall into the trap.
"Of course you do Andy. You should work as hard as you can to bring that girl home and bring an end to that family's suffering and bring that girl home no matter the shape she is in. " Chris Handleman said.
Andy looked up a moment and said, " Sir, I need to have someone pick you up in the morning on their drive-in. I had a visit today from a mall employee that was never investigated even though he has a criminal record. Most people around here wouldn't take Mr. Blesserman's word on anything and it was on that that he was overlooked. But he had a lot to say about his time in prison and other inmates chatting while he was around. Now I would question the word of a felon especially ones my detectives had ignored but I was able to fact check his statement and it all came back factual. Given that the decisions he was talking about where before my time I'd like to go over with you what my predecessor might have been thinking as you knew him better than I did. What do you say we make breakfast out of it with tons of cream cheese away from your secretary who I've been told reports on your in-office eating habits to your wife? As if a man can't make his own meal choices. If we couldn't get through it by lunch we could get us a wrap platter to share with the men and 2 or 3 boxes of donuts and a few cupcakes for us. Who'd complain? "Asked Andy. Chris Handleman knew when he had been caught if he fought the new Police chief it would look bad on him and a day out of the office listening to tapes and having a scapegoat ready-made for him. Tomorrow was looking to be a very good day indeed. Only his secretary and his wife knew he had shredded the documents connecting him to this mess. But really all they knew was that he had shredded old paperwork. Something they had threated to do by themselves if he didn't.
