As they drove up to the house, Andy made a split-second decision, people always associated cops with donuts. So Andy and Jess made it stop at the local donut shop to pick up a couple of dozen. that way when they walked in they looked as if they were expecting an empty house and a lot of work to be done Into the Night. When they were greeted with people instead of an old house they would act shocked but at least they didn't come empty-handed. that way the people living there were not shocked or any more upset by the police absolutely necessary.
it made them the good guys who were just given bad information making the best out of what they had. It wasn't as if the current residents had any more reason to trust the mayor then the cops did at the moment. That was what they were hoping for at the moment anyway. If they had inside knowledge Andy was sure with his advanced training that he would be able to tell.
With Convicts, though that wasn't always a given seeing as how they had spent years fighting for almost any reason in prison and lying to CO's was a way of life for them. He never bothered to tell any of this to Jess. He was the youngest cop on the force and if something went bad then he had to have the confidence to pull off the nearly impossible task of getting out with as little injury as he could. This was not easy but it was also the job they had both signed on for.
As they rolled up to the house it was obviously someone's home so they went in with the plan they had rehearsed.
" Hello, "said a man in a Trust Building halfway house uniform top. Andy spent the moment he was pretending to look confused noticing the small details of the man's shirt giving them something to work with back at the police station
"Hi I'm the police chief and we were given this as address as the house the county just bought for us to practice police activity in. I'm Andy and this is my deputy Jess. I shoulda started with that but I was stunned for a second. But seeing as how Des isn't around to regive me that address and most everyone now is on 911 duty it would be a total waste of time calling for the Address until I got into the office myself in the morning. Are we allowed to come in we have 2 dozen donuts and a gallon of hot coffee that's going to go to waste soon the mission is closed and Jess and I could manage a few between us but man the rest would be tossed. Unless we aren't breaking rules and it would be ok with you and the residents if we came in to relax for a while.
" Hey, guys there are cops at the door who have coffee and donuts they are willing to share. I guess someone in the record department gave them the wrong address. We all have been playing guessing games about that girl's disappearance may be the cops will be willing to tell us won the pot so far. Who wants to let them in and see if they have more info then we got guesses and maybe help us pick a winner for this round. Then the new round can open as to when and where they find her." Greg the guard on duty called out. When they got the round of enthusiastic yes's from inside the house They where not all that shocked.
"So you guys are making bet's on my missing girl case nice to see my hard work and the suffering of a family is something someone can enjoy. Andy said trying to sound miffed when he was actually seething with rage.
"Hey man that mayor comes across as a guy who enjoys himself on Camera to be the person actually on the ground. "Are you guys them?" One guy shouted from another room.
"Man, they can't be the ones. They looking for some empty house. How can the top cop be looking for a house on a weekend? "Shouted someone else.
" Yeah and we got lost so jess and I better get a move along," Andy said.
Overall they spent 30 minutes in the house Andy was shaking when he got in the car. Jess looked confused.
"What's wrong boss. They seem like nice guys. " Jess said.
" You didn't hear them betting on us and wanting information. Someone in that house did this or knows who did. God, why did I stick myself with a rookie" Andy screamed into Jess's face?
