By December, Laurie's moved back to the farmhouse, she feels better there, in her own home, with her own things. She wanted to spend Christmas, Philip's first Christmas, in their home. Laurie's car is parked in front of the porch, the rear trunk open as Laurie grabs a bag from within. The car was kind of a gift to herself, once she decided she was going home, she needed a way to travel to and from the school with Philip. She's glad her mother left her some money, because having a child is so expensive. From the clothes, especially with his growth rate, the toys, the furniture, it's a lot. She's managed. Plus Tony helped a lot, wanting to be involved as much as he can, trying to reassure her that despite everything that came out about Charles and their mother, that he is still her brother. She pulls the trunk door shut and turns to Philip who stands waiting for her clutching to his highland cow plush.

"Take my hand, Pip" Laurie states holding out her hand for her son, the almost 3 month old is more like an 18 month old, he walks, he's started talking, he attempts to sing along to music. He's....a lot like Bruce actually. Shy. Reserved. But incredibly smart whilst being slightly a dumbass at the same time. He's proving to be a good but wild child.

.............

Laurie closes the front door with her hip, Philip's hand in hers and a bag over her other shoulder. Philip releases her hand and hurries through to the living room. Laurie follows behind him, smiling before it falls. Strange thoughts in her head. Stranger's thoughts. She lifts her eyes and they find a man sat on her couch. A stranger is sat in her house.

"Wait!" Laurie scolds Philip, she grabs his shoulder and pulls him closer to her as she throws up a force field around her and Philip.

"Relax, Dr. Juspeczyk" he tells her as he stands from her couch. "I'm not here to harm you...or your child"

"Who are you?"

"Director Nick Fury...of Shield" he answers. "You're a hard woman to find"

"For good reason" Laurie counters clenching her fist trying to hold off an episode, her ring starting to glow with the rising gamma. "What do you want?"

"I don't know how much your brother tells you....but I am looking to put together a couple of teams" Fury notes her unease. "Please, sit" he tells her. "I'm really not here to disturb your home...."

"You broke in" Laurie points out. "Not really feeling all that safe. How did you even find me?"

"Shield has had an eye on you since you actively started working with the X-Men" Fury admits. "We kept an eye on you whilst you were working on the Bio-Tech Force Enhancement Project. My point is....that we've always been watching you"

"Nothing creepy about that" Laurie comments as she leads Philip to the coffee table, where all his crayons are set up to be used. She crouches behind Philip and strokes his hair. "Sit here and draw, sweetheart" Laurie tells Pip who nods. Laurie stands and sets her bag down before moving to sit across from Fury. "What is it you want from me?" She asks. "Because I don't know where Bruce is" she admits.

"We know that" He agrees, Laurie looks down. "I'm here to talk to you about an idea, a form of defensive mechanism called the Infinite Defenders, a team of talented and gifted individuals that will work together to ensure the defense of this planet"

"Oh?" Laurie asks.

"I believe you would be a good fit for the Infinite Defenders; you're powers, you're force fields would be invaluable" She stares at him a moment, he doesn't seem to know about her...extended powers. For now, she'll play weak. Just force fields. Just invisibility. That's it.

"So I say yes and you're up my ass day and night?" she asks. "I have a son...I can't have agents invading my life"

"No, of course not" he answers. "You only be called on...if and when you are needed" She sighs and glances to Philip who scribbles away. If something were to come, she would want to say she did everything she could to defend the world her son lives in. She sighs and turns back to Fury.
