Chapter cuatro

It's him.

The guy from the club. The weird one that warned me it's not "safe".

I quickly look away before they catch me staring. I continue filling out the papers trying to cut out their conversation.

"Here you go, Jord." I hear Savvy say, a bag ruffling as she says it. I don't hear him say anything in return, the next thing I hear is Savvy again. "Oh, she's filling out a job application."

I look back knowing their talking about me, I make eye contact with him. I give him small smile and wave he just stares at me, he doesn't have any emotion in his eyes. He just blankly stares at me. I turn back to the papers filling out the last thing then standing up walking to the counter handing the papers to Savvy, ignoring Jordan's stare.

"Thank you hun, i'll give you a call before the day ends." she gives me a big smile. I smile back shaking her hand when she puts it out.

I turn around to leave and bump into someone. I didn't realize he was so close. "I'm so sorry." I look up seeing him staring at me still.

"Not your fault, amor." he says quietly, staring into my eyes. I push my eyebrows together staring in his back. I feel his hand go to my arm, his touch sends a warm shock all over. I shiver breaking eye contact looking back at Savvy.

"Thank you for your time, Savvy. I hope you have a great day." I give her a small smile, stepping away from Jordan.

She nods, "You too, Kaia." she smiles back. I walk around Jordan ignoring his stare once again, and walking towards the door.

I hear Savvy speak to Jordan right before the door closes, "Stop staring at her like that, your gonna scare her away." I chuckle getting in my car driving to the store.

"I'm home." I announce as I walk into the apartment with bags in my hand.

"In here." I hear Arizona yell from the kitchen. I shut the door walking into the kitchen.

Arizona, Malakai and Sean are all sitting at the counter staring at the wall.

"What are you guys doing?" I question putting the bags down on the floor.

"We're hungry."Arizona speaks.

"And have no clue what to make." Sean says. I chuckle.

"I went and got some food, what do you guys feel about spaghetti?" I pull the out sauce and noodles waving them around. They all nod fast with big smiles on their faces like children. "Okay, but you guys are helping this time. Sean get out the pots. Arizona get the ingredients and Malakai put the rest of the stuff in these bags away." they nod.

Sean stands up getting the pot out and handing it to me. I fill it up with water and put it on the stove turning it on.

We get everything ready and done. I mix the sauce and noodles together before putting them into four bowls. I hand everyone their bowls and we all walk into the living room. "What do you guys feel like watching?" Arizona asks as she scrolls through netflix on the tv.

"We should watch Baby Driver." Sean suggests shrugging his shoulders while eating his food. We nod.

"I'm sorry about earlier," I hear Malakai whisper when were halfway through the movie. I look over at him raising an eyebrow. "I am, I just worry for you. So many things could happen to you when you work." he looks back at the tv as Baby drives away from the bank after the robbery scene.

"It's ok, Malakai. I get it. But i'm an adult now, i'm old enough to make my own decisions." I look towards the tv. I see Malakai nod his head from the corner of my eye before he lays his head on my shoulder. I lean my head against his.

After a few minutes of sitting like this watching the movie my phone begins to ring. Arizona pauses the movie as I answer it.

"Hello?" I say.

"Hello, is this Kaia Levy?"

"It is, and this is?" I ask polietly.

"Its Savvy, from Savvy's Bakery. I was calling to tell you that you got the job." I smile brightly at what she says.

"That's great, thank you so much. When can I start?"

"Does Thursday work for you?" I hear papers ruffling in the background of the call.

"Yes, it does."

"Alright. Then i'll see you in 2 days. Have a great night Kaia."

"You too, Savvy. See you in 2 days." I say before she hangs up.

I stand up looking over at Arizona. "I got the job!" I squel as Arizona stands up and hugs me with a bright smile on her face. Sean and Malakai join in the hug as they give me their congrats.

We sit back down, I tell them about the bakery and Savvy. I leave out the Jordan part, It's not like i'm gonna see him much anyway.

We finish watching the movie then head to our rooms, going to sleep.
