"What time is it?" I hear Arizona ask as she comes out of the hallway entering the kitchen.
"Morning Ari, it's like 10am. How'd you sleep?" I ask her, turning the burner off and putting the bacon on a plate.
"My head is pounding." she groans as she puts her head in her arms laying it on the kitchen island.
"Where's the advil," I hear Malakai ask as he walks into the kitchen with his fingers massaging his temples. I point to the cupbored above the fridge. Sean comes in the kitchen grabbing the bottle of advil from Malakai's hand, opening it and popping 2 in his mouth. I scrunch my face up.
"Is it really that bad that you had to take those dry?" I ask putting pancakes, bacon and bread on four plates. Sean nods.
"Pass me some when your done with them please Malakai." Arizona mumbles.
I grab 3 cups out of the cup bored knowing Malakai won't drink anything besides bottled water.
I hand everything out once everyone sits down. They all mumble a thank you before they literally devour their food.
"What's everyone doing today?" Sean asks munching on his piece of bread.
"Gym, look around cali, what 'bout you guys?" Malakai speaks up gulping down his water and pills.
"Probably just gonna chill here and get things sorted, clean up a bit." Arizona answers.
"Same." Sean says.
"What about you Kaia?" Malakai asks looking at me.
"Probably gonna go look for a job." I say quietly.
"You know you don't need a job, Kaia. Mom and dad make plenty for us." Malakai rolls his eyes.
"I know, I don't want to keep using their money though Malakai. I want to make my own money, It wont be a big job, I wont be too busy for school. I can handle myself now." I stand up putting my empty dishes in the sink before quickly walking to my bedroom.
I know that may have seemed like too much, but I don't want to keep using mom and dads money, even if they do make good bank. I've only had 2 jobs my whole life and each time they never lasted long. Either my father or brother made me quit. My mom liked that i've always been independent. Malakai's never once had a job, he always uses our parents.
I don't care what they say this time, i'm not living at home anymore, even if I still live under the same roof as my brother. I'm over 18, i'm a woman. I can make my own decision
I pick out a outfit for the day, then shoes. I do a natural makeup look. After an hour of getting ready, I walk out of my bedroom. I'm wearing black jeans with a loose white blouse.
"Leaving already?" I hear Sean ask as I pass the kitchen. I nod and smile at him. "You look cute, there's no way they won't give you the job." I chuckle at him walking towards the front door. To get there I have to pass through the living room. Malakai and Arizona are sitting on the couch watching tv.
"Going to your interviews now?" Arizona asks.
"Yeah, I don't know when i'll be back, but I won't take long." I give her a hug before turning towards Malakai. He doesn't even look my way. I ignore him walking away and going out the front door. I get to the parking floor and find the car, I get into it driving out of the building.
I drive around for a little to find a place I want to apply for. I see a cute little bakery shop not to far away from our apartment. I park the car and walk into the bakery. I'm welcomed with a sweet smell of goodies.
"Welcome." I hear an angelic voice say. I look at who's behind the counter. It's an old lady, she has a cute little apron on that has flour all over it. I smile at her and she gives me a bright smile.
"Hello, I was wondering if you guys were hiring?" I ask. She nods coming around the counter with a clipboard.
"Sit with me." she waves her hand to the seat in front of her as she sits down. There's nobody else besides us in here that I can tell. "What's your name?"
"Kaia Levy."
"Pretty name, you can call me Savvy."
"You have a beautiful name." I tell her, admiring the name i've never heard before.
"Thank you," she smiles at me. "Why do you want to work here?"
"A distraction if i'm being honest. Something to do for fun." I answer honestly. She nods, writing something down.
"Do you have any baking experience?" I nod.
"I bake with my mom all the time, I love baking. It takes my mind of things."
"That's good, well you sound like a very kind woman. I need you to fill these out then give them to me. I'll let you know if you've got the job by the end of the day." She smiles brightly at me handing me papers and a pen. She goes back to the counter when the bell rings, indicating someone's come in.
"Hello, Jordan. Here to steal more sweets?" I hear Savvy say and laugh. I start to fill out the papers she gave me, it's a resume.
"Of course I am." I hear a deep voice say before he laughs. The laugh gets my attention. I turn towards them to see who it is.
Oh My God.
