"you're drunk gabi" Lando told the brunette, laying her down on the sofa

"I know" she slurred back, letting him lay her down

"give me that now, it's time to stop" He sternly looked at her, taking the bottle of vodka from her hand. She limply reached after it but soon flopped herself back down on the sofa

"why can't you be here more?" Gabriela abruptly asked

"come on, it's time to go to sleep now" the boy told her, avoiding the question. He knew it was true, he was never around anymore; ever since mclaren signed him as one of their 2019 drivers.

"Lando, why are you never here anymore?" She asked once more

"I'm just busy with work gabs, you know how it is" he tried to push the question away

"I know, but you promised it wouldn't take over us" she cried, all her feelings beginning to pour out.

Lando couldn't be sure they were her true feeling. He believed a statement she had told him when they were out once 'drunk statements are sober thoughts'

"It's not taking over us gabi, I'm here now aren't I?" He sighed

"I don't think we can do this anymore, I hate to do what I'm going to do but—" Gabriela looked down; hesitating

"don't do anything daft gabs please" Lando begged her, fear taking over his face

"It's me or racing Lando"

••

I woke up in a cold sweat. A terrible feeling in my stomach.

There was one thing on my mind: Gabriela.

Today was the last day of my week long training camp in Bahrain, but I couldn't stay. I had to go home. I had to see gabi.

I looked at my phone, which was charging on the table besides my bed. It was 3 am here, meaning it was 1 am back in England.

I dialled her number, not realising she would be fast asleep, probably in a pile of her work as usual.

"Lando, what's wrong?" She sleepily asked

"I want to come home" I sighed "I had a bad dream and I miss you"

"baby I miss you too" she giggled a little, she has such a cute giggle. The one that really melts your heart

"I think I'm going to cancel the last day of this training camp.. I need to come home" I told her

"what was your dream about?" She asked, her voice becoming more aware, she was clearly waking up now

"Oh, it was just a bad one you know.." I stuttered, not wanting to tell the details, afraid of upsetting her. Gabriela was the kind of person who saw dreams as a mirror of the future, she heavily believed all dreams that seemed real, were real. To here, if it made sense, it was a premonition.

"aw baby" she mocked, giggling a little more. Just this reassured me, at least for now, that she wasn't going anywhere.

"stay at your training camp, 2 more sleeps and you can see me" she reassured, i could hear papers shuffling in the background.

"fine, but leave your work now gabs, it's like 1 o'clock there" i told her

"i need to finish this essay" she sighed, the keys of her keyboard now rattling "it's so much harder then i thought.. actually, whilst i have you, would you mind putting me in touch with your physio again? speaking to him before really helped" she waffled on, her typing speed increasing as she spoke

"yes of course! but Gabi you need to sleep, remember what your mama told you?"

"my mama isn't a doctor Lando, and neither are you. I'm far from sleep deprived, in fact, when i got home from my lecture this morning the first thing i did was sleep, for 5 hours" she continued, still mindlessly typing away

"right, please sleep for a bit though Gabi, i want you fully focused when i get back" i grinned, my mind began to wander and before long i'd fallen into a deep thought, which eventually became a deep sleep.

I didn't even realise i never hung up, i woke again at 9 to see the call was on 6 hours, there was a gentle snoring coming from the other end of the line, so i decided to get a shower, as not to wake Gabi, who would be leaving for her 9 am lecture in about an hour.

I missed her, I craved her touch, to hear her voice in person.

She was my first thought in a morning, my final thought at night. She haunted my dreams whilst I slept, and she danced across my thoughts throughout the day.

She was, she is my everything.
