I laid on the sofa, a blanket covering my legs. I kept watching the big arm on the clock tick.
3:44, 3:45, 3:46.Lando would be home soon, he'd told me it would be around four.
"10 minutes till four" I spoke out loud, convincing my mind it would be alone much longer.5 minutes till 4.
4 minutes.
3 minutes. There was a loud bang at the door as the clock read it was 2 minutes until 4.
I jumped up and almost ran to it, unlocking it with enthusiasm.
I was greeted by Lando's huge smile, he dropped his bag to the floor and held his arms out to me, I jumped into them, hugging him close in the University halls. A few people came to see what all the giggling was, but quickly left when they realised it was just me and Lando.
After a few minutes of standing there, Lando put me down onto the floor again, and the two of us made our way into my flat.
"I missed you like crazy" I told him, as I threw the blanket over us on the sofa
"You're not the only one, I hate being without you for so long" he wrapped his arms around me, once again dragging me into a smothering hug. I gently giggled at his eagerness, I wished every day could be like this.
"Oh, and I got you a drink of milk ready" I laughed a little, once he'd finally loosened his grip on me. I motioned towards the small table next to the sofa, which besides a mat with a glass of milk, was completely littered with paper. Papers including notes, research and many other things from my various lectures throughout the week.
He picked it up and downed the glass in one, I laughed more at the milk left in the baby hairs of his mustash, which he struggled to grow. I found it adorable that despite all his efforts, it never managed to get to a visible stage before he gave up and shaved it off.
"I don't know how you can drink that" I sighed, picking up my own glass, which was full of Pepsi, a drink I much preferred to anything else.
"and I don't know how you can't" he mocked back
Nights like this were ones I would kill for, the two of us often laid on the sofa, eating pizza and spending the whole night laughing, me drinking wine and him drinking milk. It was so simple but it was perfect. I loved it, just as much as I loved him.
I often dreamt about nights like that. The kind of dream that was so clear and bold it had to be a mirror of the future.
I was a heavy believer in fate. I believed everything happened for a reason and we had little control over it. Fate brought us to the places and all we really had to do was make the smaller decisions.
People around me often claim to have had difficult decisions to make, but in reality the ones we made ourselves were nothing compared to the ones the stars made for us.
I loved reading, almost as much as I loved spending time with Lando, I read many plays and books before I slept at night. Lando always laughs at my addiction to fantasy and crime, two subjects that are almost the complete opposite of each other. He is forever telling me that I was born to be a detective or a lawyer, my obsession with crime novels and just reading the areas police reports in general was a conversation topic he brought up many times to me, each time I laughed it off, but the two of us knew that me knowing about the crimes, meant I felt so much safer in the flat, especially when I'm on my own.
"earth to gabi" Lando laughed, shaking my shoulders lightly "I said would you like to order some food?"
"sorry, I spaced out" completely unaware I'd been ignoring him for my thoughts for around 10 minutes "I'd love to get some food, I've been waiting for you to come home and say that all week"
"Indian or Pizza?" he asked, though he already knew the answer
"Indian" I smiled
"Really? I'd never have guessed you'd have chosen that!" He pretended to act shocked
I usually opted for an Indian takeout on a Friday night, going for pizza on a Wednesday. The 2 days a week we got a takeaway when we were both home and away. Sometimes we'd go to a restaurant, which was more common when we were away for races, but usually we'd order it to either his or my flat, and we'd sit in bed whilst watching a film or binging a show.

"I love you, you know" I whispered, as the two of us snuggled under the covers together.
"I love you too, you daftie" he giggled back, tickling my side
"Lando, never leave me" I hugged him close, wanting to stay in this moment forever.
"I wouldn't dream of it" he held me close "you're my everything"
