Peter was right. Avery was avoiding him.
Thayu had arrived in school on Monday morning, and a huge crowd had immediately gathered around him. Girls were wailing about his purported relationship with Avery, asking for the truth.
Thayu had caught Avery's eye, and proceeded to grin at her. But Avery's gaze quickly flitted away and she turned hurriedly down a corridor, leaving Thayu to answer questions with a forced smile.
David Whitely, their manager, had suggested that Icarus held a press conference. Thayu and Avery would explain to the media that it was all a misunderstanding, and they were just friends.
Thayu knew it was a sensible idea, the right idea, but funnily enough, he felt reluctant to do so. However, he had agreed.
Now, all that remained was to look for Avery and tell her about Mr Whitely's idea.
Finally, after freeing himself from the crowd with some help from the Principal - "That's it! I am disqualifying the whole bunch of you from the contest. I have never seen such disgraceful and unladylike behaviour, ever!" - Thayu took this opportunity and quickly trailed after Avery."Oh, Thaa-yuu!"
Thayu skidded to an abrupt stop as Yulia appeared in front of him. She fluttered her eyelashes and gave him a shy smile.
"What-cha doing? Where are you going?"
Thayu groaned inwardly. "Yulia, this is not a good time..."
"Actually, I have something to tell you. I knew I felt something when I met you. Something different. A spark between the both of us. I know you must have felt it too......"
"Yulia. I'm sorry, but I don't have the time right now. Why don't you-"
"I'm the girl at the masquerade ball."
Thayu froze. "What?"
Yulia had been watching closely for his reaction. The shock in his eyes and the sudden stop in his movement...... it all confirmed her suspicions. So it was true. That wench did meet Thayu at the ball. And she didn't even know it was him!
Judging from Thayu's reaction, he had obviously felt something for this masked stranger - that Avery wench.
Yulia was envious. No matter. I will still make him mine, she thought.
"Oh yes! I was the Rapunzel to your Robin Hood!" And Yulia flung her arms around his neck. She then proceeded to lauch into her dramatic confession.
"The moment I saw you at the ball, my whole world immediately changed. Instantly, you had captured my heart. I was drowned helplessly in the emerald green pools of your eyes. Under the moonlit sky, my-"
"There was no moon that night. Only stars."
"Oh, right." Yulia cursed mentally at her mistake.
"I... must have forgotten." She cleared her throat and smiled brightly. "But it doesn't matter! Because finally, we, the star-crossed lovers, the Romeo and Juliet of our generation, have reunited and-"
Thayu pushed her away. His gaze was cold and rock hard.
"What did you tell me? What were the lines you recited?"
Yulia's brain worked furiously. She might be portrayed as the 'all brawn and no brains' girl in school but she really wasn't stupid. Being the queen bee in school meant that she had to have a significant amount of cunning.
"The lines - the lines were from 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', weren't they? They were your favourite play."
She could see the surprise, then doubt in his eyes. She knew that she was close to getting him.
