Chapter One- A Not So Happy Reunion

Akiza's pov

I was currently on my way over to Yusei's house after my chat with Crow. Like him, my signer mark has returned and this can't mean anything but bad news. I thought that this life was behind me but I guess not.

When I pulled into Yusei's driveway, I saw Leo's duel runner so he and Luna were already here. The one good thing to come out of this is that I get to see my friends again.

"Hey Akiza, long time no, see huh?"

I looked over to see Leo standing at the door with a smile. Kinda amazing how much he's grown. It still feels like only yesterday he was the little kid that wanted to be a signer like the rest of us.

"Indeed. I just wish our reunion was under happier circumstances" I said, locking my car and walking over to him

"Yeah. Same here, but I'll take any excuse to see you guys again" Leo said with a chuckle as we both headed inside.

Once inside, I saw Yusei, Crow, and Luna all sitting in the living room. Yusei and Crow haven't changed that much but Luna looks like a completely different person.

"Hey guys, Akiza's here" Leo said to the group who looked over and smiled at me.

"It's so good to see you again. how have you been?" Luna asked me to which I smiled

"I've been good. Luckily this incident came as I was taking my vacation"

Luna nodded as Yusei cleared his throat, getting our attention. He let out a sigh before speaking

"I really wish that our reunion could have been under happier circumstances but as you know, that simply isn't the case. I take it that you've all seen the news and have noticed our signer marks have come back"

We all nodded our heads in response to what Yusei said. As we were talking, I suddenly got a call on my cellphone. When I looked at the number, it said unknown.

"Answer it." Yusei said in a gentle tone

I nodded and answered the call. Whoever it was sounded relieved that I answered.

"Oh thank goodness"

"Father? What's wrong?" I asked, noticing he was panicking

However what I heard next made me worried and scared. I heard him scream in pain and the phone drop on his end.

"Dad! What's going on?!" I panicked which got the rest of my friends concerned

I heard the sound of the phone being picked up however the next part made every muscle in my body tense up. The person that spoke wasn't my father.

"Hello Miss Izinski or would you prefer Akiza?" a male voice spoke

"Who are you and what have you done with my father?!"

"My name is of no importance at the moment. I'm just using a pawn to get closer to the Queen"

I gritted my teeth and clenched my fist. I was so angry that my psychic powers started coming out.

"Pawn?! Queen?! This isn't a game of chess, you bastard!" I growled at the male who just chuckled

"War and Chess have many similarities. They both require strategy for one and that's what I'm applying right now"

"Is...is he alive?" I asked with worry in my tone

"For now though he is losing a fair amount of blood. I'd hurry if I were you. Here's a hint as to where he is"

The next thing I know I receive a picture and when I looked at it, I noticed the Fortune Cup Arena. I immediately got up and ran out to my car without another word

Small timeskip

When I arrived at the arena, I looked around for my father. I eventually found him being put on a stretcher.

"Daddy!"

I ran over by his side with worry in my eyes. He however looked over at me and smiled a bit

"I'm okay Akiza. They managed to patch me up to where my bleeding stopped. I'm just being taken to the hospital for stitches and x-rays, I'm sure" he said to me as I sighed with relief

"Alright. I'll make whoever did this pay" I assured him

"Please be careful Akiza. I don't want to lose you" He said to which I nodded

"I will. Don't worry"

With that, father was put into the ambulance and taken to the hospital. I watched as the ambulance drove off and just remained standing there as my friends soon came running over

After explaining the situation to them, I heard my phone go off. It was a text message this time. When I looked at the message, shivers went down my spine as I read it outloud

"Not even dragons are without hunters"
