He took down the canvas that he had been working on to rest it beside the balcony, before lifting an empty one onto the stand. He noticed out of the corner of her eye, she had her arms wrapped tightly around her body, looking sheepishly around her; the nerves visible on her face as he continued what he was doing, amused at the expression on her face.
"There, ready" He said & she turned her attention towards him, slowly. "Take this" he said handing her the palette & she looked up at him in confusion. "If we're going to paint, you're going to need this Angry Chorni" He teased her & she rolled her eyes at him.
"Now what?"
"Now" he proceeded to walk around her until he was stood right behind her. "You take this" He said putting the paintbrush in her hand & she fumbled with it.He edged in closer to her, her back gently resting on his lean structure as he ran his hand down the arm with the palette, squeezing her hand gently as he felt her shift slightly. "Am I distracting you?" he asked in her ear & she closed her eyes briefly, feeling herself flustered under the close proximity.
"N-no" She managed, her voice hoarse. Her throat had suddenly become very, very dry.
"Are you sure?" He asked & she felt herself getting annoyed at his constant taunts. He was enjoying her state way too much.
"Are you going to keep asking me questions or are you actually going to do something?"She had realised what she said as soon as the words left her mouth so she bit her bottom lip, squeezing her eyes shut, causing Abeer to smirk as he leaned over to see her release her lip from it's hold. She sensed him watching her so she opened her eyes at once. Not daring to look his way. "Don't" She warned him & he couldn't help the chuckle that came from him. "Just don't." She said, suddenly feeling the nerves take over her completely. She didn't realise that he had this hold over her completely. She was a wreck!
"Fine, here." he said taking her hand with the paintbrush, in his.
"Abeer, what if someone comes?" She asked, looking over his shoulder, between them, as he sighed.
"You sure know how to ruin the moment, don't you?" He said & she looked back his way to glare at him. He gestured towards the canvas with his eyes & she turned back around, so he closed his eyes for a few seconds, as he took in her scent. Smiling at her as she waited for his instructions. He had been painting for so long that if he wanted to, he could have done it with his eyes closed; In fact, he had done it with his eyes closed. He smiled to himself as he recalled painting the very woman that was standing in his arms, merely inches away from him. He gripped onto both of her hands a little tighter as that thought took over him.
The woman he had dreamed of, the woman with whom he had imagined many moments, like this, was his. Only his. Finally. He didn't realise that she was looking up at him until she spoke. "What is it?" She asked him softly & he opened his eyes to see her beautiful eyes, almost hidden behind her glasses, staring back at him. A smile appeared on his face as he admired her. He shook his head, emotions taking over him as he let out a deep sigh.
"Nothing. Just remembering when we first met" He said & she smiled, turning back to face the canvas. He began to move their hands slowly, letting the brush move on the canvas in small strokes at first as he rested his head on the side of hers.
"On the bus?" She asked & he nodded.
"Mm. What was the first thing you said to me?" He reminded her & she chuckled, tilting her head away from him as he glanced down at her.
"I didn't know!" She defended herself vigorously before turning to the canvas again.
"I did" he said, with all seriousness & she looked up to meet his gaze again. A smile on her lips.
"How?" She asked him.
"Well," He began, taking their hands & dipping the paint into another colour before adding it to the canvas so she turned her attention to the canvas. "For one thing, I knew you were angry, from that moment!" He said & he felt her elbow him in the stomach, causing him to yelp as they stopped painting.
"Ajeeb Rajvansh!" She exclaimed, making him smile. "That was your fault for not letting go."
"How could I?" he asked & she smiled to herself.
"Then?" She pressed him to carry on but his hand stopped, looking down at her when she didn't meet his gaze.
"Wait. Why am I telling you all this?"
"Because I want to know! Tell me!" She complained & he sighed. "I asked you that time in your room, but you still didn't tell me."
"Fine. It works both ways though, got it?" He asked.
"What are you talking about...?" She asked him carefully.
"Really?" he asked her. "You're going to act ignorant?" He asked & she paused.
"On second thoughts... never mind" She said & he smirked. "I don't want to know."
"No, no" he said leaning down to speak into her ear. "This is a challenge, Angry Chorni" He said softly.
"Ajeeb Rajvansh!" She sighed, irritated as she looked up at him, so he moved back slightly to meet her gaze.
"I'm just saying, what will people think? That you really are Nariyal Mishti?" He teased & she faced the canvas again, in a tantrum.
"You started speaking. Finish it. Or I'm going."
"Fine" he sighed, exaggerated. "I know your larger than life personality only works on me.
"Abeer" she warned him & he closed his mouth. "You were saying...?" She cut him off before he could speak again.
"Oh yeah" he recalled where he had left off. "So" he continued, moving the paint brush along the canvas as they filled in the background of the painting. The sky. The light shades of the horizon that echoed the depths of his imagination. "The second time we met. When I found your earring-"
"Where did you find it by the way?" She asked, intrigued by the many encounters that they didn't realise they would end up having.
