Helping the Heroes
Slinging my bag over my shoulder, I quickly crossed the road and slid my way through an alleyway, and away from the chaos present in the main city street. I thought that I would be safe in here, but I was so wrong.
Suddenly, something hard grabbed my waist forcefully, dragging me behind. I gasped in shock, and immediately realized that the brick monster had grabbed me using his large fists and was pulling me behind, at lightning speed. I willed myself not to scream, because I was able to control my emotions well. I guess if I were to get scared, angry, or posses any other form of emotion, at any point in time, my secret powers of controlling the elements will be exposed... And I don't want to blow my cover.
The monster pulled me up to his eye level, scrutinizing me carefully. It was probably wondering why I wasn't reacting to any of his advances.
I swore I saw a glint of mischief in his eyes. I groaned internally.
Without warning, it started to tighten it's grip on me, making me struggle in response. It seemed to be enjoying my reaction, but I didn't dare to scream. I held all of my emotions in, hoping that I could escape from this perilous situation... somehow.
I was getting breathless, and the air inside my system was slowly being pushed out by the force of the beast crushing me. Black spots started to cloud my vision, and my head was getting dizzy.
What a way to die, I thought.
I shut my eyes, preparing to meet Death as the monster continued to crush me to my bones.
That was it.
My 16 years on this terrible world is finally coming to an end.
As soon as I thought I was dead, I felt the impact of the monster's grip slowly releasing me, and weird ringing sounds resonated in my ears. I was falling head down fast, and for a moment I thought that I was going all the way down to death.
But I was wrong... again. I felt myself landing on impact, but it wasn't too hard. It was cushioned, and I didn't feel any pain upon landing.
Opening my eyes weakly, I saw that I was still in the same street that the monster had almost tried to kill me in, and that I was in the arms of a masked teenage boy of my age. He had black frizzled hair, and he wore a black cape with a red and yellow jumpsuit. Judging by the way he looked, he must've been one of those superheroes that I've been hearing about.
"You're safe now." He said, giving me a small smile and mumbling a few inaudible words after that. He gently laid me down, and stood up, brushing the dirt off him.
"Titans, go!" The masked boy cried out after putting me down, and in my state of confusion, I tried to stand up weakly.
I saw the monster being attacked by the group of heroes; namely a half cyborg, a green half animal, an alien, a half demon, and that masked boy.
Looking at the way they handled the monster, it looked as if they were losing... the battle was looking really disastrous.
"You! Go and run to safety, what are you doing here?" Someone hissed sharply at me, causing me to yelp out in response. Looking to my side, I saw the half demon girl who could control dark energy looking over to me as she was in flight, preparing to fling a few rocks at the monster using her telekinesis.
Just as I could open my mouth to respond, the monster slammed the half demon girl to the wall forcefully, and I winced watching the undesirable scene.
I narrowed my eyes and felt my blood boil as I watched the scene of the brick monster terribly hurting these heroes of Jump City.
I realised that I couldn't stand here and watch this monster cause anymore damage and hurt. I needed to help them... if I could, somehow.
