Origins: an ECHOS novel (teaser chapters)

Prologue

The class looked on expectantly as their teacher cleared her throat. This was their favorite time of year when she told them the story of how one girl became a hero, shaping the lives of their tribes for many years. As a hush settled across the room, she took one more breath before she began.
"Many generations ago there were them. The explorers and adventurers who had come from Varuus. They were an advanced species who looked humanoid in physical form, but they were so much more.
While the humans of the planet Earth were just discovering fire, the Varian's were ready to explore the universe. They had discovered technology and bends in space which enabled them to travel from planet to planet, without having to fly through space. They were the arch builders, the first exploration group to travel through space and discover new planets. Of course, travelling took its toll on a person, this is what happened to their head scientist and leader.
Their leader, Elena had grown weary of travelling. She wanted to settle down after exploring their own slice of the universe for five years. She had been the one who discovered that the arches of her own planet Varuus held a spark of energy. She found a way to use it for their own ships. There was a certain tone which caused the chunks of rocks to vibrate therefore this enabled their ships to fly. In the end she managed to refine the rocks into a type of granule which had the same effect when hit with a certain tone. She did not know why the rocks responded like this, but with a different frequency she discovered that a gateway opened in the big arches which led to different planets. It was one such planet where Elena and her three brothers had decided to retire from exploration. The planet Andair.
The indigenous species were similar to the Varian's, except they were nowhere near as technologically advanced as her own people. They were similar to the people of Earth in that respect.
These were a simple people who lived in tribes and were known as the Andarian's. There were four tribes in total, all within a day's travel from each other, Elena named her tribe the Elenite's. Her tribe worshiped her like a Goddess and would leave tributes at her home in the woods, high up in the fog-soaked mountain. The city of Elen was prosperous as they learned to hunt the Bovines in the fields and planted many different types of food for consumption.

Her older brother Aero named his tribe the Aeron's. His tribe were blood thirsty, and were the foot soldiers of the planet. They took to war like a duck to water, exactly like her brother.
Arwyn, her middle brother called his tribe the Arawn's. His tribe were not as bloodthirsty as the Aeron's, but they could kill a man in several different ways and not get caught. They were the spies of the planet.
Then there was her younger brother. Kind in nature like his sister, Kasan believed that every life was important. Whether they be animal, fowl or human. He called his tribe Kashna. His people were similar to Elena's community as they were peaceful and calm. Though while the Elenites were prosperous when it came to food, the Kashna tribe were the animal whisperers. They could command everything from the birds to the predatory beasts that roamed the plains around their city. Animals and people worked together to plow the fields and protect the land from the Aeron's when their bloodthirsty tendencies got the better of them.
For many generations, even after Elena and her three brothers passed away, the four tribes lived in a relative peace. Sometimes, one tribe would get overzealous and try to take over another. This though was quite rare, they lived and worked well together for many generations. Many people from the original communities began to form their own tribes until the land was full of different cities and dwellings. But this is not their story. This story is for those of the original tribes, The Elenites, The Aeron's, The Arawn's and the Kashna's. This is the story of how one man would corrupt the peace, while a girl child became the unlikely hero."
