I woke up with the rays of the sun hitting my face. I took out my phone and looked at the time. It was 11:05 AM. I put my phone back on my nightstand, and dragged myself out of bed. My hair was messy, and my tank shirt sleeve has fallen off my shoulder, and I was just a mess in general. I went to the kitchen and started making myself a coffee. As the coffee was steaming in my cup, I settled on some simple toast for breakfast. "Oh man, I still have to find some sort of job..." I whined to myself. I finished my toast and cup of coffee, and went to take a shower.
Once I was all cleaned up, dressed and ready to go, I went outside. I started walking on the streets of Ikebukoro, looking around for any possible billboards, or phone numbers that offer any sort of work. As I walked, I noticed something familiar. 'Is that...' I looked closer, and it was indeed, the public swimming pool! I took swimming lessons ever since I was little, so maybe I could find something there. I walked in, and instantly smelled the chlorine. I walked up to the reception desk and grabbed the lady's attention. "Hello there miss, how may I help you?" She asked.
"Well, you see I've been looking for a job, and maybe I can find something here?" I said hopefully.
"Do you know how to swim?" She asked.
"Yes, I took lessons when I was younger, and I know how to save someone as well."
"Well, we are hiring new lifeguards, so if you qualify, I can give you the job. But, you're going to need to pass a test first, to see if you can properly save someone, etc."
"Yes ma'am."
"Come back this afternoon, and I can test you personally." She said as she slid some papers my way. "Please look at these, ad possibly fill them out."
"Yes ma'am, thank you." I took the papers, slid them in my bag, and left. 'Wow, I never imagined it would be this easy' I thought to myself. As I took a slow walk, I came across West Gate Park. 'Man does this place hold memories.' I thought as I walked over to the empty bench. I decided to sit down, and I pulled out a manga from my bag. Yes, I am an otaku. I read manga, watch anime, and everything else.
I got so lost in the manga, I didn't even realize someone sitting rather close to me. I looked up, and saw a raven haired man sitting beside me, watching the fountain. He had on a dark parka, some jeans, and boots. His arm was draped over the bench's backrest like he would drape it over someone's shoulders. I felt like I knew him from somewhere, but it was really foggy. It was practically the afternoon, so I packed my manga back in my bag, and started walking back to the public swimming pool.
As I was making my way towards the pool, someone walked up beside me and said "Hello there, Name-chan." I looked over, and it was the exact same man from the bench.
"Um, hello." I responded, but kept walking. He continued to walk beside me and said, "You left before I could introduce myself - my name is Orihara Izaya. But, I suppose you'd know that already." And gave me a creepy grin.
My eyebrows furrowed, and I was deep in thought. 'Where do I know this man?' Then it hit me. Orihara Izaya. He went to high school with me and Shinra. (You and Shinra were friends, mkay?) Izaya would always pick a fight with Shizuo. They would ruin the place everytime. I sighed and said, "You still haven't lost that creepy face I see.."
He chuckled, "Now that's rather mean, Name-chan." And he bumped shoulders with me, but I simply fixed my bag and kept walking. "Sorry, Izaya-san. I need to do something. I'll have to see you later." 'See you later?! What the hell!'
"Aww, isn't that sad. I'll see you later then~" and as he was about to leave, he turned towards me, pecked me on the cheek, then pivoted on his heel and left.
'What. The actual. Crap.'
