The morning light coming from the clean hospital window had forced Name to awaken. She was going to shield her eyes, but had forgotten that her arms hurt, and slightly jolted with pain.
A grim reminder.
Once she saw the purple bruises snaking around her wrists, she remembered everything that had happened.
Her vision had cleared and she looked around the room, only to notice a raven black-haired head, resting upon the edge of the crispy, white sheets of the hospital bed. Ignoring the pain, she lifted her arm, and slightly curled her fingers but the index. Slowly, she reached closer and closer to the head, and poking it through the unwashed tufts of hair. The head moved a little, but only because of the force of the poke. It was otherwise, undisturbed. Name's arm dropped to the bed, and started to notice the injuries of the slender man who lay in deep slumber before her. Her face changed expression to that of worry.
She wonders, 'Should I wake him up?' And, with a final decision of yes, she gently lays her soft hand on the man's shoulder, the fur of his parka tickling her arm on the way. She starts to shake his shoulder and whispers, "Izaya?"
Once his name is spoken, he starts to float back to consciousness. The man lifts his head, and looks straight up, at the woman laying before him. It takes him a few seconds to register where he is and why. But once he does, his eyes widen and exhales her name,
"Name..." and proceeds with, "You're awake?" A little louder. He raises the rest of his upper torso in a sitting position, never breaking eye contact.
"Idiot, how dare you get yourself injured. As my special human, you must keep yourself in top condition. And look at you." Izaya started, with a complaining voice, somewhat back to his old self. But only somewhat, since you'd still be able to tell he was trying his best to fake it.
But Name simply smiles, chuckles even. She reaches her hand out and places it on top of Izaya's.
"I'm sorry, but I couldn't just give away your coordinates, now could I?"
Izaya was contemplating whether to ask, and decided now is the perfect opportunity. "Why?" With a serious face.
Name is slightly taken aback, but then remembers that he obviously hasn't noticed. She contemplates on whether responding with some sarcastic remark or a serious answer - possibly her actual feelings towards this shady info broker. She takes a deep breath and begins,
"Look, I kept my mouth shut because.." her face brightened a lovely shade of pink, and she couldn't keep looking him in the face.
"...because I have these things. These horrible things called feelings. And those feelings are directed at no one else but you." She made direct eye contact now. "I hate how I feel towards you because I knew that I'd never get these feelings returned. You just like humans. And direct your attention to the really interesting ones." She took a quick breath and exhaled.
The broker was honestly about to laugh. He then responded with,
"Name, you're truly hilarious. Look at me." He motioned to his broken arm and black eye with his healthy one.
"Does this look like the state of a person who doesn't care about someone else?" He asked her now.
"Okay, then why are you like that?" She asked, even though she vaguely knew the answer.
"Clearly, I was trying to save you. I fought bearmen trying to get you back." And he regretted his words as soon as he spouted them. He was actually showing his emotions - how uncool of him. But maybe if he did, she would believe him.
"You fought 'bearmen'?" She giggled.
The info broker crossed his arms and replied, "They were as buff as bears. But, I couldn't beat them." He reached his arm back onto the nape of his neck nervously, trying to act all cool and casual about it.
Now, Name trying to get to the point. "So, you risked your health for me, but why?" She asked, already realizing it, but she needed him to say it himself.
She needed a confirmation.
The shady man began to speak, "Now I've mentioned that I, the great God, does not choose favourites, but-" he hoisted himself up, standing on slender legs. He leaned in close and propped himself up by his arms on the soft bed.
He continued to lean in close until he was just a centimeter to brushing noses with the female laying before him. "I must admit, you are one hell of a human." And quickly closed the remaining gap between the two beings. His, shockingly soft lips were placed upon Name's even softer ones.
Now, she wanted to hear a confession, but it appears Izaya took the next step. Name was trying to process what was now happening - which was her fantasy coming true. As he has, she closed her eyes, and kissed back. She no longer cared about the three words she's been dying to hear, because she knew Izaya would most likely not utter them - but this was proof enough.
And it was he who initiated it.
Name was quite excited.
She reached up her arm and wrapped her hands around the man's neck and pulled him slightly closer. She was very much enjoying herself.
Now something she also knew was that Izaya Orihara was also enjoying himself. He was finally able to overcome the unsettling feelings he had, the thoughts he thought that maybe him telling her how he felt would make everything go sour.
But no, she liked him just as much as he did her.
I'd even call it love.
Of course, Izaya being the guy he was would never admit it to, god forbid, the public. But in private, he would show her all sorts of love. After all, he would love to call her his. And maybe this kiss was the deal. They both were kissing with consent - acknowledgement.
Now as much as both of them would like to kiss some more, and maybe a bit more passionately, now that they have proclaimed their unspoken love for each other, Izaya pulled away.
Name had a slight pout on her face, but Izaya sat back down.
"Now now Name, I know I'm irresistible, but if we continued, do you really think it would have ended well for you?" He smirked his signature grin. Name crossed her arms and looked away, pouting. Izaya stood up and ruffled her hair, then leaned in and kissed her head.
"I'm going to fetch a doctor." He simply stated and walked towards the door, swung it open, and left. Closing it behind him.
Once gone, the girl's face turned redder than Iron Man's suit, she swore. Her face burned - burned with what? Embarrassment and overjoy.
She could not believe what had just happened - that she kissed the, unexpected, man of her dreams. And that he liked her as well.
She couldn't really hide, since her legs were hanging from slings (the thing in the hospital that i forget the name of). This may have been yet the best day of her life.
Or was it?
Let me tell you, it may have gotten better with time.~~~~~~~~~~
