sho carried me to english on his back and sat me down in my seat. he has a seat right next to mine in this class, so it worked well. i brought out my sketchbook again, remembering something i could add to my sketch. i brought it out and grabbed my pencil to start sketching a person venturing into the cave. it was quite easy, as i already had a blank space at the entrance of the cave where i could put the guy. after i finished the man, i coloured him in. i wanted him to stand out more, so i made him the only thing in the drawing with colour. after i was done drawing, i looked up to see what everyone else was doing. when i did, i saw everyone was reading, so i grabbed out lord of the flies and read more of that. i had finished the book about 10 minuets ago so i just went back to drawing. man, that was a good book. i wanted to sketch out what Ralph looks like in a few different poses because he seems like he would be fun to draw. i drew him standing on his head, something he does when he's exited, first. it was fun figuring out how his hair and clothes would be formed when they were flipped upside down. it was also really fun drawing his hair. i then draw him standing with piggy. piggy is shorter and fatter, so i drew him as such. i wanted Ralph and piggy to fit well together, so when i coloured them i used a lot of the same tones. they didn't have much contrast, so i added a thick black line around each of them. i then felt a pair of eyes looking over at my sketchbook. i look over and it was sho looking at me. he looked for a few more seconds then said; "that's a really good drawing! is that ralph and piggy from lord of the flies? they look just how i'd imagine they would. you should show Ms. Kayama, she really likes lord of the flies." i smile at him as brightly as i can. "thanks sho! maybe i will... but you have to come with me. i'm not too good with adults..." i say looking down at the picture. he nods and smiles. "wait... have you already finished the book!?" he asks. i nod and smile. "it was a really good book. thank you for letting me borrow it!" i say smiling as brightly as before. "you can keep it, if you want. maybe we could go to the book store when your ankle feels better to get you a new book. oh! it's almost halloween! we should watch some scary movies." sho says excitedly. halloween? it's october 29th... isn't late October that time when mother and father would go out and party..?...when they came back, they would be in a better mood so they wouldn't beat me that bad.. kids would also knock on the door all night on the 31st... is that what he's talking about?  they all say something weird, too... either 'trick or treat' or 'halloween apples'... hmm...

(A/N: i have no idea if kids say halloween apples when trick or treating in japan or america, but they do where i live so... yeah)

i then realized i'd been mumbling the entire time. yay. i look up at sho and he's just smiling to himself. "halloween is fun, have you ever been trick or treating, izu?" he said in a cheerful tone. that smile dropped a little when i shook my head 'no', however returned when my face lit up as i remembered. "i have been once! at least, i think i have... before my father left. my biological father, that is. he took me once, it was fun. then when he left, i never went again. a few years later my mom re-married my step-father, then i wasn't allowed to go outside anymore, whatsoever... sorry. i've been rambling, haven't i?" i say concerned. "it's fine. remember to tell the detective that when we go talk to them, k? also, they'll come get us some time during study hall today." he said looking at me with a hint of...love..? i don't know. "ok!" i say, smiling once again. my smile seems to actually be contagious, because when i smiled, he did as well. i can't help but look at his smile, it's so mesmerizing! it may be a rare sight, but that just makes it 10 times nicer. i bring out my notebook and decide to write something down.

beauty. by: Izuku Midoriya.
Beauty is rare to witness, yet if we experience beauty everyday it belittles the value.
Just as happiness; you must experience the bad to get the good. The ugly to see the beauty.
I feel that there's beauty in everything, even if it seems ugly at the time. You must look at things differently to see their value. What's my value? Will i ever know? They say you are your harshest critic, so maybe i never will see any beauty in myself. But i'm ok with that.
I have others beauty to look at, my friends and boyfriends. Maybe they can see something in me that i just can't...

i finish writing a paragraph and put my notebook away. sho looks over to me with curiosity in his eyes. "what'd you write?" he asks nonchalantly. "just a paragraph... it's about beauty." i say smiling. "can i read it? you don't have to show me if you don't want to." he says. he adds the last part hastily and i giggle at it. "sure, but don't laugh or you'll never see any of my writing again." i say sternly. "yessir!" he says. i giggle at him once more and pull my notebook back out. i open to the page i just wrote in and handed it over to him. he looked at it for a minute or two until he handed it back. "sorry for my messy writing, i'm not very good at print." i say scratching the back of my neck. "n-no! you have really nice writing, actually. i was just re-reading it once more. i like it a lot, is what i'm trying to say." he says hurriedly. i once again giggle at his formalities. "thanks, sho. i did rush it a little, but it's whatever." i say shrugging. he chuckles at me and looks at his phone. "it's 11:17, the bell will go in three minutes. you may pack up your supplies now." Ms. Kayama says enthusiastically. i put my notebook, my sketchbook, and my binder into my bag and wait for sho to finish packing up as well. once he is he looks at me with a half smile. "ready for food? you don't have to eat much, but i want you to eat something." he says enthusiastically while picking me back up on his back. "o-ok... no promises though!" i say as he starts to walk. "fine, fine. i guess you're not showing the drawings from your lord of the flies book?" he asks, stopping and raising an eyebrow. i shake my head no and he continues to walk.

"she seems tired enough as it is, i don't wanna bother her... also, i wanted to ask you something." i say resting my head on his shoulder as we made our way to the cafeteria. "hmm~?" he hummed  in response. "d-does this school have a music room by any chance?" i ask nervously. he looks at me through the corner of his eye. "yeah, do you know how to play any instruments?" he asks as we continued on to the cafeteria. "yeah, my mother taught me how to play piano when i was little, 6 years old to be exact. that was the gap year before she re-married and after dad left. i remember a lot of piano, but when we moved a year later into my step-fathers house, we had to leave the piano behind. i was just wondering if there was a chance i could play again." i say letting out a brief sigh at the end. "well, there's a piano in the dormitory. it's in a little music room on the top floor. we could go there after school if you want to..." he said whilst trudging down a long stretch of hallway. "yeah, that'd be nice." i say. we made it to the cafeteria and saw kacchan on his phone at one of the tables. we sat down next to him; well, sho sat me down next to him as he made his way back across to the other side of the table. "hey" kacchan says looking up from his phone and turning it off. "hi kacchan. how's it going?" i ask. he puts his head on my shoulder and let's out a sigh. "better now that you guys are here." he says tiredly. "are you tired, kacchan?" i question. he nods slightly and i giggle a bit at him.
