nov. seventh, friday
' there's a room where the light won't find you. holding hands while the walls come tumbling down. when they do, i'll be right behind you. so glad we've almost made it, so sad they had to fade it. everybody wants to rule the world. '
singing and dancing.
making out and making love.
drink. smoke. blame it all on the night's spell.
high school parties are a teenager's wet dream.
dumb decisions have valid reasonings for some reason.
' i was drunk. '
' you were drunk. '
' she was drunk. '
' he was drunk. '
' we were all drunk. 'drinking is the number one excuse. and, hey, it's not like you haven't used it at least once.
eddie kaspbrak, not a huge party person. he enjoys a small friend gathering with maybe some cigarettes and a couple of shots from rich's whiskey, but nothing too big like this.
greta bowie's big party bash.
everyone was here.
it was hectic as heck.
" i'm going upstairs. " eddie says to an intoxicated richie who, ninety nine point nine percent, was not listening.
the tired, drowsy boy walks upstairs to whatever room would lead to the roof.
once there, he carefully steps on the bricks, finding a comfortable position to lay back on so that he can finally relax.
this week was a killer.
exams coming up faster than he really knew it.
mom having surgery in the next two weeks.
chatty friends.
bitchy teachers.
and the usual, homophobic slurs.
' yeah i'm a fag. suck my dick. ' he had mumbled under his breath in the hallway after being addressed by an ever ruder word.
that earned him a punch in the head. but, he did not mind. it was normal.
these things, though, didn't stop him from being proud of who he was. his friends love him, his mom hasn't disowned him, and he's not dead yet. right ?
that's all he needs.
" i'm so tired. " he sighs quietly to himself as he closes his eyes and begins counting sheep.
" me too, eddie spaghetti. " a familiar voice rang out. it startled him, yes. but, the voice was easily recognizable. especially because of the godawful nickname.
" i didn't know you had heard me when i said i was comin' up here. " the sleepy boy says, eyes still shut but much more tense than before.
" i always listen to you, eddie. "
" lies. "
" yeah, maybe. "
the two chuckle.
eddie feels a presence lay beside him.
" do you ever wonder how many stars there are in the sky ? " richie asks, stretching his hand out towards the sky.
eddie only shrugs and remains silent.
" one day, when i'm older and have someone to hold and love, i want to tell them that i would pull down every single star from the sky . . . just to see them smile forever. "
eddie's eyes shoot open.
" every star from up there ? " he asks stupidly.
" up there. "
up there.
he begins to feel that rush in his body once again.
