The rain was pouring down, the streets on campus resembled an endless river. Paige curses, pushing herself eventide to the wall. Every other day she would just walk to her dorm room but today she wore her fancy date dress. Her date was disastrous which made her leave early and in a hurry. Right as Paige had lost all hope of getting home at least partially dry an umbrella appeared above her head.
Wondering to whom it belongs, Paige turned her head, making her strawberry blond curls swing. From her normal point of view, all she could see was a black university hoodie. Looking up, a smile formed on Paige's face. Her saviour was a tall blond woman. "Thank you!" Paige remembered her manners. "Letting the rain wash away this beauty would be a shame." the girl explained herself with a rather deep voice. " I´m Cassandra Rickard. Nice meeting you, Paige." Paige's heart skipped a beat, who could Cassandra know her name. "Oh don´t worry, I attended the Wildlife Conservation Society Gala in which you spook about Elephants. I was very impressed." a genuine smile formed on Paige's face. Elephants and the WCS were a cause dear to her heart.
" Oh okay, that makes it less creepy. May ask why you attended such a Gala, not that I don´t think you're cultivated but most people there are rich and want to feel a little less guilty for the ebony decor they own." the small woman wondered. Cassandra laughed at the accusation of Paige, bending down to Paige's height she said. „I am one of the rich people or more my dad is, but we don´t do it for the press. My family has been involved in the WCS since the founding. In fact, one of my ancestors was a founding member." Cassandra could not stop herself from giving Paige one of those, see what you did there grins.
The grin did not miss its desired effect, as Paige turned red in embarrassment. "Sorry." was all she could say to Cassandra who smiled down at her. " Let´s get you back home," Cassandra suggested as the silence went on. Paige nodded, afraid of embarrassing herself even more. " I live in Roosevelt hall" she informed Cassandra which promptly took Paige's arm and guided her home.

Four years later

"Cas, have you seen my heels? I can´t find them?" Paige called out, nervously running around the huge apartment. " Honey, you own around hundred to infinity pairs of heels. Just wear a different pair. Black maybe? " The answer was promptly heard from the bathroom,. " No, I can´t they are the only ones working with this scarlet dress. Help me please Baby." Paige was desperate. Her shoe collection included multiple heels but none working with this particular scarlet red. " You know what, the Gala is in three hours, we´ll stop by Renee's and get you a new pair. As a reward for being published the second time, okay?" a compromise was suggested from the bathroom. "Okay." Paige surrendered. She took a pair of flats and put them on when the bathroom door opened. "You look stunning in your new suit baby." Paige complimented before getting to her tiptoes. " I know, you bought it for me" Cas answered before bending down and kissing the offered kips. " Let´s go, shall we!" Cas took her arm before leaving for the shopping and the Gala.

"You didn´t have to buy me Louboutins, they weren't the only fitting the dress" Paige half heatedly complained, as they drove onto the parking area. " I know but only the best for you. as always. Listen, Honey, we got a few minutes before the Red carpet. Let me proofread your speech." Paige handed her speech over. " Please, Please do not correct my spelling otherwise I won´t be able to see anything but red," Paige commented on her bad spelling. Her partner nodded. " Okay, let´s see," a red pen was opened at a few sentenced altered before they drove to the actual red carpet. It wasn´t as fancy as the ones at television awards show but still glamorous.

Cas drove the black Tesla down the road and parked it in front of the red carpet.
" Cassandra Rickard and Paige Sommerfield ! " a speaker announced. Cassandra walked around the black E-Car. Opening the door like a gentleman, Cassandra held out her hand for Paige. "Thank god, you are mine. Otherwise, I would have to be very careful to keep my eyes on only the civilized parts of your body!" Cassandra whispered at Paige while helping her gain balance in those 6-inch heels. Paige gave her girlfriend a heartfelt smile before straightening her dress. " Let´s do this, Baby."
Walking the red carpet was always special to the two of them. Paige felt like the most beautiful human when Cassandra put her arm around her in this possessing way and Cassandra could not be more proud to call this beautiful goddess her girlfriend. They flashed some smiles for the photographers before walking into the building the Gala was held.
Right as they entered the lobby, half a dozen men came to greet Cassandra and Paige. With every greeter, Cassandra held tighter onto Paige up to the point where Paige had to interfere. " Listen, baby, I´m here with you. I won´t run off with some creepy old man. If one of them gets too friendly, I can take care of myself. So you can stop giving me bruises from jealousy. " Cassandra seemed to approve this idea but knew it wasn´t worth fighting, so she let go of Paige.
I took the women half an hour to greet everyone important.
" I hate those Greeting marathons, don´t you hate them too?" Paige asked after she and Cassandra found themselves a quiets place in the back of the lobby. " I guess, I´m trained from childhood. I don´t like it but it´s normal for me." Cassandra simply answered before looking at Paige's sky blue eyes. The moment did last long, as Paige caught a piece of the conversation from the couple a few tables down. " Why do people think I picked you for the money," her voice was flat and a single tear escaped her eye. Sure Cassandra was almost ten years older than Paige and from a wealthy family but it wasn´t what Paige saw.
She saw an ambitious woman, one who would fight the whole world for her. She saw a bad ass CEO. Cassandra’s face turned red if it wasn´t for her tall and muscular frame people could find it cute. " I love you, Baby! I am right back" Cassandra reassured Paige before she walked over to a table. " Good Evening. I respect your opinion Mister Hasters in business-related decisions but my love life should be none of your business. And If you need to know why I choose her, it because f her brilliant mind, not because she is the prettiest girl on earth, which is a bonus. If you´d excuse us, we have a Gala to attend." Cassandra gave this middle-aged man a piece of her mind before returning to Paige. " Let´s go. You have to be on stage in ten minutes" and with this, they left the lobby and went into the main hall.
